Just to check - this is the same Mia Barnett who went from Virginia to UCLA and now to Oregon?
Yeah, Sweden better watch out if their coach gets fired. Itll be straight to Finland for Mia. Do Sam McDonnell and Dalia Frias have dual citizenship?
3 colleges, 2 countries, 1 mia
Quite the road trip! Thelma&Louise.
Mia back in the 4:06 range. She's also showing better finishing speed.
Issue of representing another country long settled and now just daily business in football/soccer and for rest of the world in track. Don't know why still a big deal here.
I’d rather compete for a country my family is from, rather than become a trials merchant, and maybe never represent on an international level. Life’s too short to worry about the optics, if you love the game, don’t keep yourself from playing.
as a swede i wud add that in sweden he (mondo) is a superstar, prolly the biggest sports star we have rite now (except for maybe alexander isak n zlatan altho he is retired)...
in usa mondo wud barely be known, he wud be another levrone (the 400mh chick) or noah or shacarri. famous to the public every 4th year or so...not in sweden

They DO have a say in what country they CHOOSE to represent (or attempt to represent). That is the athlete's choice NOW; it is not about what their parents did decades ago.
Many think that people should CHOOSE the country that got them to where they are.
No, you don’t owe anything to the country where you grew up. In a free democracy, it’s an individual’s prerogative.
Several athletes who qualified according to World Athletics rankings were rejected by the Swedish Olympic Committee for not meeting the organization's standards
