If they work for you by all means wear them. I never worry about other peoples opinions. I wore them for Houston one year and my calves were not sore after the race.
Wasn't there a thread back in the day about defecating in compression socks due to their exorbitant cost?

No I never felt self conscious.
But, they don't work. Or should I say they are not necessary. The calf is really strong and it only gets injured if you do too much too soon.
Throw away the compression sleeves and all of that junk and go by feel. If the calf is starting to strain, back off, then go again the next day slightly longer. The calf muscle heals fast in my experience.
Never underestimate the power of a carful of girls yelling at you. Maybe when you're 70 you won't care anymore!
