You're an idiot. Hedengren improved 9 seconds in the mile from her sophomore year (4:35) to her senior year (4:26). Most girls improve at least 9 seconds from their sophomore year to their senior year. That's nothing new or different.
Your total made up BS about her being a "mysterious, sudden onset historical talent" just proves how little you actually know about Hedengren. She's been competitive with Sadie Engelhardt since 8th grade, and Hedengren has been very well known since her sophomore year. Hedengren even beat Leachman, the previous 5k national record holder, 1 year and 7 months ago in a 3 mile xc race at Woodbridge during Hedengren's junior year.
Go learn more about Hedengren so that you can stop writing posts that make yourself look like a fool.
adidas need to fire Tuohy immediately and use the money to try to sign one of the up-and-coming American like Hedengren, Appleton, Hartman, or Leachman. She has done absolutely nothing for the company, doesn't race, doesn't take drug tests, spends all her time promoting granola bars and Nick Bare's magical supplements on Instagram, and is simply a drain of money.
Cut the #1 draft pick who they are overpaying and look for the next big thing (AKA Hedengren). Whittni Morgan is an adidas athlete and part of the Diljeet Taylor training family in Provo; might be time to offer a huge NIL to Hedengren and get her on board now so they can keep her as a pro. Rarely does someone with a big NIL change allegiances (Valby) so if they can sign her now they have her for LA 2028. If they cut Tuohy's salary they will easily have enough to sign Hedengren. I would love to see her wearing the three stripes in the future.
With competition, a 4:26 miler should be able to run 2 flat to 2:02 unless she is just much, much better at the long distances. In this case, where she runs the same pace at 3200m and 5000m, maybe she doesn't get that much faster and she did not have a kick in the 14:57, so it is not clear to me that she has really good basic speed. I'm going to guess 2:03.
I'm not going to predict what she's going to run, but in my opinion her current peak capacity (weather, great pacing by rabbit, non-tactical, everything goes right situation) is around the following:
5000: 14:50 Mile/1500: 4:19/4:00
Most women with that sort of fitness also have the capacity to run an 800 in 2:00 give or take about 2 seconds.
So while I don't think Jane has a real chance at breaking Juliette Whitaker's HS record on May 2nd (BYU elevation is ideal for the 800 in an athlete already adapted to moderate altitude), the possibility of it happening before her season ends is very real.
Jane will be representing Team USA in the future and I can't wait to see it.

I believe Tuohy has something called a 'long term employment contract' that protects her from idiots like you.

How does a thread about Hedengren get a rampage about about Tuohy going? 🤷

You can root for an athlete without needing to put down another.

UNM freshman Pamela Kosgei just ran 30:38 altitude converted at the Don Kirby Invite. What do you estimate Hendo's current peak capacity in the 10000m to be?
