I was in a bar once in the middle of no where appalachia and there was a dude wearing a tinman elite shirt.
That has to be one of the groups greatest accomplishments

All this to take a man's name away from him and lead him into obscurity. All involved flew way too close to the sun. Sad.

This 100%. This should allow them to add some more runners to the roster & be one of the more competitive teams on the road racing scene. Actually feel like this is a good move. Drew and Sam keep training on the side.
Idk why people hate on Tinman. The group took chances on guys who didn't have a ton of other offers, if at all. The messaging from their content over the years has been pretty simple. Work hard & see if you can get better. That should resonate with everyone on here, mixed with the underdog mindset/blue collar vibe. People chasing their dreams is cool, actually.
source?
As Drew goes, so does TME.
And since Drew has never figured out what his event actually is, well, you know.

I always wondered why Schwartz didn't just file a trademark cancellation of the Tinman trademark based on his own prior use. It was clearly his brand and identity before it was theirs. Would be a fairly straightforward thing to do. Has he never sought legal advice on this?
not that it matters at this point and isn't the topic of this thread either, but i also thought it was pretty pathetic they kept the tinman name after the whole ousting tom debacle...like tom was literally the tinman and his training was named tinman because he started it and owned it lmao. i think drew and the group missed an opportunity to just rebrand and switch names after that. always thought it was awkward and silly they wanted to call themselves tinman elite after they exiled their own coach who is the tinman. obviously it wouldn't have changed performances and what the team actually did, but a different name just would've been better for optics, fan sentiment, etc.
i do like reed as a competitor and he's a good marathoner but the guy is so boring, vanilla, and dry. his interviews are so monotone and nothing of substance. did brogan austin just decide to leave or what happened there? another tinman athlete who is suddenly gone with no explanation lmao. only ask because he was also a marathoner - i assume he just made a personal decision to leave the group and/or isn't training competitively anymore. but would be nice to hear since he was a member for a while.
will be interesting to see who they add to their roster for the marathon and while i'm going to definitely care less about the group in general going forward, i'll check out how their marathoners are performing in major races. i don't expect much tbh if the hunters are now becoming coaches of only elite marathoners. i think reed is at a talent level where he can probably continue to improve to 2:09 and/or run 2:10-2:11s at key races consistently, no matter who his coach is. so thats good for him and he'll continue to enjoy success...but i don't see much else happening here aside from that and for them as a team or the other athletes.
this also just feels like a prolonged cash in by the hunters for finding a way to let this team continue to exist lmao. drew really won the financial game by signing that fat adidas contract and then getting his parents a coaching gig with adidas support lol. dude got himself 2 houses in colorado off running salary and then even got his parents cushy jobs. what a finesse hahaha
The issue with TME is that they're more concerned about social media exposure with "average" professional runners and trying to make money through coaching schemes. Mom and Pop Hunter aren't going to attract any true elite-world class talent. Just because they coached their kid (Drew) to great success in high school and landed him a long-term adidas deal doesn't give them the credibility or ability to coach world class talent at a high level. Why advertise and push a brand, how about just coaching and keep your mouth shut? Instead, they're trying to make money through "professional" coaching, while using average national class athletes to do so. The shift to the marathon coaching model is funny. Is this because they know Drew isn't gonna make a U.S. National Team on the track? and that he clearly needs to set his sights on the marathon for L.A. 2028? I think Drew has a chance to make the marathon team in L.A. 2028. He's run fast enough to show he has the ability; his big issue is to stay healthy. If he can put together a solid marathon plan with a reputable training group over the next 3 plus years, he can definitely be one of the favorites to make the team.
Suggestion for Drew:
Give Ol' Ed Eyestone a call and move to Provo, UT. Get on the Mantz/Young training plan and go all in.
I was in a meeting with two 50yo lady's in the cultural sector in Sweden a couple years ago and one of them was wearing tinman boston 10s... I couldn't focus at all since I was blinking twice to see if it was really their logo

It's because it's becoming ever more difficult to identify and develop 1500-5000 talent in Boulder. Unless you sign with OAC, there's no support and little reason to live in a high COL town like Boulder. Not when there are better groups of young runners in Flag. With no realistic option to go much lower for fast training, Boulder is more optimal for marathon training. Pete Julian is going to hoover up any CU grads who stay around yet don't get signed to OAC. Team Boss is washing away into retirement and further obscurity. The rest are marathoner groups and lack the resources to develop anyone into world class at the sub-marathon distances. Even the marathoners are seeing a hard ceiling, there's no Matt Richtman coming out of there.
