Because modern vehicles are 2-ton loaded weapons under the control of a bunch of drug-addicted apes.
Your crazy view of the world doesn't justify criminal behavior. If anything, even if you are right just once, you're giving the main reason not to be physically confrontational. Yell at them. Call them a poopyface. Move on with your life.
A lot of things were annoying me, but on the way back a car pulled out of a driveway right in front of me, practically putting me across the bonnet. So I thumped the car. I shouldn't have done it but I'm not in a good headspace. The man inside was swearing out the window as I continued the run. Proper beetroot red.
Has anyone else done this?
Another bug bear are dog walkers, who I can't get away from, no matter how obscure the trail path. Or women walking side by side who take up the entire width of the path and won't budge.
Many times but you want to be careful when to do it and when not.

I see your point, but consider how thumping the car is particularly effective at making a very important point, and a point that is not really made as effectively if one were to yell or flip off the driver, etc.
The car will not know if you thumped the car or if they just hit you. From their point of view, they may have to consider if their lack of caution just caused an injury, and even a serious one.
This can work to your benefit. And hell, if the driver starts giving you flack, just start limping badly and grabbing your knee.

See, this makes an effective point.
It doesn't make a point at all. You will have been forgotten within 30 seconds. This is just wasted energy. The only thing that works is for you to be aware of the big piece of metal and wait for when it's clear to make your move. It worked for me without any special effort required. It can work for you.

Let's say your parting remark is something like "my lawyers will be in touch" and then pretend to write down their license plate and limp badly as you hobble away.
Still think you'll be forgotten in 30 seconds?
My point is simply that these things are a compact between the pedestrian and the driver. Both parties, not just the pedestrian watching out (which they geniunely should do). So, if you need to do a little dramatization in order to impress upon an errant driver that they need to be more observant in order to avoid a potential injury, then you are actually doing them a favor by making the point before it leads to an actual serious injury.
If the driver is from malmo’s era, then I’ll be more likely to forgive easily. But as the age of the driver gets younger, I’m much less lenient on their inattentiveness.

Just stop being silly. First of all no one is going to hear your "parting remark" and even if they did, no one will care. They will be giggling more than 30 seconds, I'll guarantee."My lawyers will be in touch", do you actually live in the real world? You need to get out. You just put a big on my face for the last two minutes. Thank you.

This. Thump, then limp holding your knee. Make a point to look at plate number and driver's face.

It's not a matter of forgiveness. It's a matter of complete wasted energy over something that can be avoided.

Like watching out for pedestrians and being a responsible automobile operator.
Pedestrians aren't the problem, it's azzhole runners darting out in front of them that is the problem. I've seen them do that many times. You have a responsibility too. Quit trying to defend your behavior.
