I‘m the biggest Jakob Fanboy but he can‘t be the goat anymore because of el Guerrouj. Hicham is wayyyy faster without superspikee, wavelight and bouncy track. So he is definitely the stronger athlete.
the next point is that jakob was defeated to often against some random guys (wightman, kerr, hocker). El Guerrouj lost only 2 times in his career and one defeat was against the second fastest ever bernard lagat.

The problem is that he hasn't been able to win the 1500 since coming to 5000 champ level. (He is undefeated in 5000 WC/OG since 2022, but his last 1500 WC/OG 1500 gold was in Tokyo 2021.)

Aregawi would possibly have won gold in every indoor WC 3000m final from 2024 and back.
He is more than 3.5 sec faster in the outdoor 3000m than Geb who won gold in 1999, more than 4.5 sec faster than K. Bekele who won gold in 2006 and more than 4 sec faster than Kerr who won last year. He is also way faster than Kejelcha who won in 2016 and 2018 (Kejelcha was "only" a 7:28 man at the time) and Barega who won in 2022.

Neither the 3000m win nor the 1500m win was particularly impressive BUT the totality winning finals in 2 consecutive days was. It is unlikely that any current runner could do that (if Jakob is participating).
Only the great Gebrselassie has done it before.
Kerr closed in 25.19 off a 7:43 race and Jakob closed in 26.3 off. 7:46 race and has trouble smoking aregawi who is a worse kicker than Barega.

I mean no competition as in no good kickers. Aregawi can’t kick for real. Had Kerr been in the competition Jakob would be screwed bended over a million times yikes. And not forgetting the dopanist Grant fisher who would have also gave Jakob a run for his money.

He’s not a 1500 guy, he’s a 3k/5k specialist with OG in the 1500. I’m not saying he’s better than El G at this point but they’re different runners and despite the 2004 5k (I remember watching the race when it happened and was pulling for El G), he did not have nearly Jakob’s accomplishments at that distance (or really anything over the mile). I would put him close to the same tier as Geb, Bekele, and El G for track distance GOAT. Not above them at this point, but he has a lot of career left.

Big deal? He should be running 3:43:12 instead not 3:45:10. At his level being 2 seconds off is indicative of flailing ability. He is losing his talent and declining rapidly. Moreover indoor records are very weak and only narcissistic girls take aim at them. He is not running 3:25 this summer. WwIII is also coming soon and if so all competitions will be cancelled to prepare for war. Jakob will return to fight for Norway anyway.

You can tell because now I’m telling you I’m as good as anybody like Ruxton and John Wesley in my commentary and analytics as anybody else. Now you know how bias the race report in LRC is? That Jonathan intentionally omitted the fact that Kerr smacked Barega a far better kicker than aregawe last year in Glasgow in 25.19 also being able to easily pass him on the back straight while Jakob struggled to go past at the same position and at much slower kicking speed is clearly an agenda to suppress all appreciation and love for Kerr. He knows Kerr is the future world record holder in the 1500m and mile and is much superior in all aspects of the sport but is afraid to get into loggerheads with the brojos who romanticise jakob.

There is too much bias here for jakob and not enough bias for guys like Geb Berkeley El g. Africans are the life and soul of the sport not Europeans and Americans. Sans Africans, there is no sport to speak of. So get in love with El g and Berkeley.

Jakob ran what was necessary to win considering he should run another final the next day.
If Kerr was in the 3000m Jakob would if necessary have run 2:19 in the last 1000m. Kerr can´t do that after a 2000m in 5:24. Kerr ran the last 1000m in 2:24 last year in the Glasgow 3000m.
I'd say Jakob was robbed the opportunity to win the 5000m gold (and thereby completing the double) in Tokyo 2021.
There was only one day between the 1500m final and the 5000m final in Tokyo. When El G did his double in 2004, he had 4 days between the two finals, and when Lagat did his 2007 double, there was also 4 days between the two finals. In order to win both, you have to run 5 races in total (heats, semi-final and final in the 1500m, and heats and final in the 5000m).
Jakob had the world lead in the 2021 season. He ran 12:48.45 in Florence (with a final lap of 56.0), beating runners like Gebrhiwet, Ahmed, Katir, Knight, Cheptegei (the eventual Olympic champion), Haile Bekele, McSweyn and Edris in the process. Cheptegei won in Tokyo with a time of 12:58.15, and a final lap of 55.10. And he toyed with the entire field in Eugene 11 months later. I don't see how Jakob wouldn't have won the 5000m final in Tokyo (IF the 1500m and 5000m finals were 4 days apart)
That schedule really annoyed me (still does). The 1500m and 5000m finals were several days apart in Paris 2024, as wells as in Doha 2019 and Eugene 2022, so I don't get why it was like that in Tokyo 2021. Really stupid.
