why would anyone buy an H2 when they could spend just as much for a used hummer? the H2 is hideous. it looks obese and out of shape. the hummer is lean and mean and gets so much more attention.

Yes most of our oil goes for things other than transportation (sarcasm)
roughly 60% goes to transportation, I'll knock that down to 50% for just cars (US uses 146 billion barrels of oil a year or 73 billion for cars). average car gets 24 mpg or 1,898,000,000,000 1.9 trillion miles driven per year
hummers get 12 miles per gallon or roughly 1/2 of the regular car average so the amount of fuel needed for cars would double to 146+73 for other oil=219 billion barrels or a 50% increase...a little bit more than one percent.
The bigger the car, the smaller the penis.
Just buy an International CXT and show the silly folks in their H2's what's up.
Nice point, words words words. But, if Letsrun posters were to take the WWJD approach, then Letsrun would basically be no more. Further, I think Jesus intended that to be legitimately constructive, whereas the poster crying "hypocrite!" here was just trying to be insulting. So, I would guess I would have to say that it is NOT a strawman if you actually are genuine in pointing someone's inequity out for their betterment (as opposed to just trying to be right). You agree?
One of the few things I hate more than H2s are the fact the some people actually are such elitists as to tell other people what they do and don't need.
If you have money and you wish to spend it on an H2 and are willing to pay for the gas for it, more power to you, I'm glad it makes you happy. I would never do it, but I sure as hell am not going to stop you from doing so.
if you hate hummers (the car, i love the fellatio) then go here: www.fuh2.com
Don't worry, the H2 owners will pay a heavy price to own such a vehicle. Soon enough they will be forking down $200 plus per fill up and won't even be able to give their vehicle away because nobody will want to own one.
As for the elite, they always just do what they want so nothing bothers them. Fortunately there are not too many of them around, so most hummer owners are going to feel the pain if they are not already feeling it yet.
Agreed, it is a disgrace that somone requires so much metal and fuel just to move their fat asses around. They should be taken out with a rocket propelled grenade.

This is such an asinine comment that I can't even decide if it was written with sarcasm or not.
If not, you should look into moving to certain parts of the middle east, where it would be socially acceptable for you to annihilate with "rocket propelled grenades" any living being not choosing to live the way you live.
Why is it that so many of you are uncomfortable with the idea of freedom? I don't like Hummers, but I don't feel the need to spew venom at anyone who buys one or threaten to vandalize their vehicles. You sound like a bunch of religous nuts. Get a freakin' grip.
BTW, I view the Hummer as an important indicator. Previously, I had to guess whether that person had poor judgement or was anatomically challenged. Now I know right away.
Why is it that people can't understand the difference between legal freedom and social responsibility. You certainly have the freedom to make many choices that are not in the best interest of others and society in general. Freedom to do doesn't mean its the right thing to do.
This is not elitist, self righteous or an extreme view. The decisions that you make affect other people and they have a right to comment on it.
Why is social responsiblity such an alien/provoking concept to so many? I guess its not cool anymore.
My theory, after decades of running and dodging vehicles on the roads: In this day of a heightened sedentary populace, people's vehicles are meant to exemplify their "physicality" - if that's a word - or lack thereof. I know, this is obvious. I mean, you have your big daddys and mommas driving monster trucks and SUVs, because this says: "I'm big and in your face and you have to deal with me..." You have your obese folks in Xterras, trying to say, "...I'm the outdoor type - when I'm not hunting elk, or traveling the Continental Divide, I'm off-roading..."
Then there's the small fast cars driven by old, slow people. The fact is, Americans, in general (aside from the people on Letsrun), are physical wannabes. The major way to show our physical perception is through our vehicles. That's why people occasionally aim at you when you run: You are an anomaly - you ain't playing fair - you're doing something most Americans can't and won't, cause it's too damn difficult and takes too much mental effort and discipline. For lack of a physical outlet, we take it out on the highways with our character-mobiles. The highways: the great equalizer.
Interesting. I have often wondered why a person would choose the car they did.
one of the hansons brothers drives a hummer i am pretty sur. can't be all bad. they can fit a lot of people.
did you know you get a tax break on a Hummer if you declare it for "business use"? that's right!! we have a pathlogist MD in our town who simply plastered the logo of his group on the door panel, states he uses the H "on call for emergencies" and snap he gets a rebate on his taxes!!
google "Hummer tax credit" if you don't believe me.
hate on THAT
I wouldn't say I hate them but I do find them to be weird and a bit irritating.
My observations:
First of all they are not really Hummers. There were a few REAL Hummers on the road a few years ago and those were beasts; great for off-roading. These were the same model the military was using. What people now drive are more like Hummer Lite's, the Diet Coke of Hummers, and off roading to these Mini-Hummer owners would be parking in a gravel lot instead of the asphalt.
The men who drive them appear to be the type of men who would wear dress shorts with a nice knit polo shirt and then an American Eagle ball cap to top it off.
I havent't seen the inside of the H2's but they don't appear to have any more cargo space or leg room than an Expedition or Suburban and considerably less than my F-150. If these were such a workhorse and great utility vehicle I would see them a lot more where I work out in the heartland of Texas ranchland.
As for accusation of me just being bitter because of the price tag on them, I don't need a $50,000 SUV but if I were to spend that much it would be to upgrade to a F-250 or F-350 and not a Mini-Hummer.
On the other hand, I did like that commercial where the little boy was making his car for the downhill derby to look like a Hummer. That was clever.

Not anymore, Google that.
I don't hate them, I wonder why anyone would buy the vehicle that received JD Power's worst customer satisfaction rating 3 (Supposedly on it's way to 4) years in a row...but it's not my money.

It's not a credit idiot. It's a deduction and that's a big difference. On the other hand it is still bad policy to allow small business owners the ability to get a huge first year tax rebate on the purchase of an SUV, which probably isn't nessessary to conduct business in the first place.
