A few notable additions have occurred within the past couple weeks:
- Men's field has become significantly deeper with the recent additions of Telahun Bekele, Brian Musua and Denis Kipngetich. At 12:42/5000, Bekele is the fastest 5000 runner ever entered in The TEN. Pace lights set for 27:00 Tokyo Q.
I was wondering why no Ellie Henes and now I see a relapse of the pneumothorax 😞
Noooo.... where did you see that? Terrible
she posted on IG. My lung (like me) is extremely stubborn. A few weeks after being back in Raleigh I got another pneumothorax. It’s a very strange feeling to go from doing a workout like this one ^ feeling the most like myself since the original surgery, to being confined to a hospital bed a few days later. The good news? This time around it didn’t collapse as much and a repeat surgery wasn’t needed. Just another procedure to help “super glue” the part that didn’t quite stick. This indoor season has been such an exciting one at every level. The bar truly is being raised in this sport, and it’s been super inspiring to watch. The frustration and sadness I originally felt at missing out on those opportunities have transformed into determination to get back onto that stage and to be a part of it. I’m so lucky and so grateful for the people in my corner through all of this craziness. To those still invested in this journey with me thank you, it’s nowhere near done yet.
It's mostly a high school race now. Normally I take the two hour drive to go watch, but I'll pass on a high school invite. Sound Running used to be a great pro meet.

Even a high school invite with the first HS duo to ever run sub-4? One of which is the 3k record holder? Not to mention they also have a 10k with a few good pros in it. That's like saying you're gonna pass on that Stanford meet 10 years ago because it was just a college invite.

I also noticed that. It really detracts from the Pro aspect. Many big names are skipping this year, and the absence of the 5000m is disappointing.

These high school kids have been running a ton, indoors and outdoors. What's up with their coach? No disrespect, but seriously, they're going to get fried and or hurt if this keeps up.

I couldn’t agree more. High School races are cool, but I live in LA and I'm not sitting in traffic to go to a high school race. It loses its vibe and authenticity. When Sound Running originated it was great.

You're very confused. All the high school races during the day have nothing at all to do with the pros. It's basically a totally separate meet.
The Sound Running pro meet is in the evening, and it's the same evening meet that it was last year.

I think you’re confused. The schedule is a high school meet with a fee pro races sprinkled in the evening section:
That's the same as what the meet was last year. Pay attention. And stop clogging up this thread with multiple posts from multiple user names all saying the same incorrect things about this meet.
This event is no longer separate. Let's keep it professional. It's disappointing there's no pro 5000m this time. Last year, I noticed high school races right before the pros. I'm a fan of Nico Young and saw him surrounded by high school kids while trying to warm up. He was getting approached a lot, which can be distracting. Pros definitely need their own space at mixed events like these. Even as a collegiate runner, it's important to have that focus when racing professionally.

Totally false. I was there, you weren't. Nico Young was NOT "surrounded by high school kids while trying to warm up". This is yet another post from the same lame poster using yet another username name trying for some reason to disparage The TEN. Get a life!

Why are you so mad, bro? You're receiving actual constructive criticism. I wasn't there, but the meetup should have a professional-only area. Is that so hard to work out? Take a chill pill, dude.
