Nobody's even heard of Zatopek who isn't old. Most of the Americans named in this thread have never been heard of outside the US.

The obvious answer, factoring in the global population, is Bolt. Kipchoge a close second.

Of the current crop I’d say Jakob, but willing to bet that 90% of people that would mention Bolt and/or Kipchoge have never heard of him.

If the question was “Who is the most loved runner of all time?” I would vote for SFH.
