Good decision by Jakob. He knows he’s not good enough to win an outdoor world championship in the 1500, so indoors will be his only chance to call himself a world champion in that event.
He will dominate at least until 2030 barring illness and injury.
And break some more WRs 1500m, mile, 5000m and 10000m. And the steeple if he can find the time.
You are just another fanboy. Jakob is not going to be on top (don’t get excited) more than another couple years at most. You don’t understand how this works. Most of you don't.
You negativists have said the same for the last 8 years and see how it has been going.
He also wins global golds, and sets world record, in far more competitive events.
How is that SMLs fault?
Also its not that her event isn't competitive, its that she is soooo much better than her competition that its basically a blowout!
SML is one of those child prodigies like kipyegon and Crouser who have won everything since they were juniors and are just better than the competition
Jakob also won titles from early age, even senior Euro titles when was still very young. Also, compared to flat races, technique alone can set you aside from rest of the field, e.g. for 400mh, SML's step patterns, which Bol now adopted, or for HJ, where Iolanda Balaș dominated for years and set multiple WRs, which were broken only thanks to new jumping techniques discovered after her retirement. Giving enough time, competition will eventually learn and adopt the technique advancements and close the gap.
So yeah, SML is better, but eventually people will catch up with her technique. The reason she is still so much ahead is because hurdles lack depth, whereas for 1500-3000-5000, where Jakob competes, the depth is insane, with probably the best starting lines in the history. You really cannot say SML is so much better than Jakob because Jakob doesn't run 3:24s regularly to dominate with same winning margins. Even ElG and other all-time greats/former WR holders in 1500m (Landy-Bannister, Ovett-Coe rivalries) have faced tough competition.

time will tell
if per se, the big 4 end up running 324 to 326 next year, and the next crop of talent doesn't come through, and the hypothetical records stand for say 15 years.
then the GOAT argument will be put to rest for a while.
i guess the next crop of youngsters have a fine trajectory, but then again, progress from 329 to 325 no matter what age is quite speculative. anything can and will happen.
The update here is Jakob doubling. The 1500 field is weak with no Habz or key athletes of note coming in outside of Olli Hoare and Anass Essayi. The 3K field however adds Aregawi, Mehary, Ky Robinson, Cornelius Kemboi and Jacobs while keeping Mills.
