After the big public spat between Trump and Zelenskyy, lots of world leaders publicly voiced their support for Zelenskyy. Lot of Republicans cheered Trump.
So here is the question. Outside of the Republicans and their base, has anybody with any world standing or influence posted or announced any sort of public praise for Trump/Vance (or criticism of Zelenskyy) after the press conference? Putin or Xi, themselves, or any of their state run media?
Whether it be factually or diplomatically, there is no legitimate reason to support Trump/Vance in this.
Zelensky used facts, even a timeline of events to make his case. Trump/Vance interrupted him, told lies and were basically cafeteria bullies.

Serious question for you. Why do you support endless war? Why do you oppose peace?
As I've been saying, Ukraine will surrender land and then there will be peace.
Like Ukraine did with crimea? how did that work out for them?

Yes. That guy made foolish assumptions and weak remarks. Being able to demonstrate that certainly makes him look bad, but it doesn’t effectively make the case that others are wrong if they see potential harm from recent administration attitudes toward Russia.

The USA, UK, Russia, Ukraine already signed a peace deal -- in 1994. There was peace for 20 years until Putin broke the peace when Russia invaded Crimea.
Putin can stop the war unilaterally today. He could have prevented it before it started by not starting it. Trump assured us he could get peace in 24 hours.
Ukraine gave up its nuclear stockpile in exchange for economic compensation, security assurances, and commitments to respect and defend Ukraine's independence and sovereignty.
"1. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine."
"2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations."

Northern Ireland knew something about ceasefires in 1994...
The same people who still insist that Ukraine is beating Russia also think Putin is next going to invade Europe. Lol. Both can't be true.
Zelensky sh!t the bed big time last week. Poorer, weaker Europe can help him all they want. But Putin is now in a much stronger position to take what he wants from Ukraine.
Hopefully the midget dictator will actually hold an election. But he won't because he'd lose in a landslide.
Note the OP didn't offer America First as a choice. Let their regional war play out. We'll keep our blood and treasure here at home, while closely auditing all our cash and weapons "for Ukraine" that have been diverted to criminals all over the world.
Russia state media sided with Trump/Vance. And was is truly surreal is that the Kremlin actually does not want Trump's mineral deal with Ukraine. It appears that Trump cannot even follow Putin's orders and got out ahead of the Kremlin on a mineral deal with Ukraine causing the Kremlin to publicly speak out against the deal. Putin wants a mineral deal that involves Russia and does not want the US to deal directly with Ukraine. A mineral deal also jumps the gun because Russia wants Ukraine to give up large amounts of territory in Donbass as part of a peace deal. Those territories have a lot of natural resources that Trump is trying to get Zelensky to sign over to the US.
In sum, this whole episode is like watching your grandparents try to use the internet. Trump tries to strong arm Zelensky into a mineral deal before doing a deal on security guarantees. Zelensky balks and Trump and Vance do their press conference ambush. Meanwhile, Trump's team thinks that a mineral deal is necessary to get Putin to agree to a peace deal. But Putin wants his own mineral deal and is against Trump's. So all of this is just stupid is as stupid does from Trump's peace in Ukraine on day one deal making.
Meanwhile in Russia: head of RT Margarita Simonyan and host Vladimir Solovyov discussed Zelensky's interactions with Trump and Vance. It will surprise no one that they fully sided with Trump and Vance, and even claimed that Zelensky called Vance a "b*tch."https://t.co/MjJd4qNG7P
NEW: Recent Russian official statements in response to the proposed US-Ukraine mineral deal indicate that the Kremlin is trying to sabotage the deal through narratives targeting Ukrainian and American audiences. The Kremlin is claiming that this mineral deal does not benefit… pic.twitter.com/9zqroqkoqu

Thank God we finally have a president who is putting his interests first.
Fixed it for you. If Russia had done this just 10-11 years ago, it would have been a rare coalescing of Dems and Republicans, with both sides supporting Ukraine. Instead MAGA took over the Republican party and all rationale thought disappeared from many on the right.
We're not going to support Zelenskyy's endless war. Let the Euros pay for it.
Many assume that the U.S. is the primary supporter of Ukraine, but in reality, European nations collectively contribute even more.
As of December 31, 2024, the United States had allocated approximately $120 billion in aid to Ukraine, encompassing military, financial, and humanitarian support.
The European Union (EU) and its member states collectively provided close to $126 billion in aid during the same period. This includes approximately $73 billion in financial and humanitarian assistance and around $53 billion in military aid. In relative terms, U.S. aid to Ukraine represented about 0.53% of its 2021 GDP, while Germany’s contributions amounted to approximately 0.4% of its GDP, and the United Kingdom’s support was around 0.47% of its GDP.
Therefore, while the United States is the largest single-country donor to Ukraine, the combined contributions from the EU and its member states surpass U.S. aid, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of their collective GDP.

The actor / comedian who played the president in a sitcom before becoming president has broad support from Europe that has largely relied on the US to fund and arm the Ukrainian war machine. If he wanted US support to continue after the election, he probably shouldn’t have campaigned with Biden and Harris during the election. Zelenskyy went all in on Biden, now he doesn’t have the cards, so he is going to get a much less favorable deal.
I balk at either/or setups. As I have said its a bit more complicated being "one of them" liberals but not be at liberty to see everything in terms of we/them, black/white. So, while I saw the recent debacle at the White House as an ambush by our guys and a poor display of diplomacy or hospitality, I wont reduce the Ukranian guest to sacrificial lamb status. Nor will I claim "both sides, etc"
But: in that situation it was clear that the two Americans "rolled" a visiting statesman, grilled him and insulted him in several ways, predominant of which by using repeated veiled threats about our alleged ally not having "the cards" (money, power, military resources) to play with.) We used to play games when I was a kid, and we had rules and courtesies even then about cheating and fair play. Important lesson. Manners and fair play are not in the Trump playbook, but childish behavior runs free.

OK, you invade a country ,they surrender and then you get peace. Cool, now Putin knows what to do with the US. You will surrender to get peace.
Putin has no interest in invading the U S.
That you would entertain notions of conquest on his part demonstrates that you have zero understanding of this conflict and are definitely not the Adult in the Room.
Exactly. Putin wants to reclaim historically Russian territories that want to be a part of Russia anyway, and wants to prevent the existential threat of Ukraine joining NATO (which they were moving towards, breaking the promises of the 1990s that they'd never join NATO). He has no interest at all in other parts of Europe - just Ukraine.

The Soviet Union broke up, and those historic territories are now independent and sovereign. It's long past time to move on. As I said earlier, Russia agreed to respect that in 1994.
What promises that Ukraine would never join NATO, and to whom? And what does that have to do with Russia, who agreed to respect Ukraine's independence and sovereignty? Ukraine started taking steps towards NATO cooperation in 1992, and towards membership from 2008. In a referendum, the Ukranian people were largely in favor of NATO membership.
