Speaking of crazy set ups, if you get a chance, watch the pacer for the women's 1k. Starts late, sprints 20 meters ahead of Sage where she would have completely thrown Sage off if she had followed, then grinds to a halt, impedes Sage's momentum, then drops out at around 320 meters. Just completely fails at all aspects of pacing.
Oh good God. Are we now complaining again that Sage was impeded? Why is it that she and every other OAc runner that has a bad race comes up with a million excuses. Waiting for Joe K excuse for his dismal half marathon
Chill out, dude. I'm certain by your comment that you haven't watched the race. The pacing wasn't just bad. It was hilarious.
These late season "last chance" meets hardly ever produce outstanding performances, especially at that level. I have seen it for years as guys try to get one last chance at qualifying for Nationals and end up either dead on the feet or barely making it with a qualifying mark, and then crashing at Nationals. Good times usually come under ideal situations. To be honest, and this may sound harsh, but not getting the time under these circumstances is just fine with me. I would prefer to see him hit it big at a big meet on center stage. Certainly BU is an ideal setting, but with Conference weekend and Nationals coming up in a few weeks and USATF Nationals all done, it seems to me this is a very difficult undertaking. I hope he moves on and sets his sights on a great outdoor season. Besides, I have always felt "time trials" are not what track and field is all about.
Remember: a time trial is when you run solo (individual time trial) or exclusively with teammates (team trial). A race with pacers is not a time trial.
happy to clear this up for you
Correct, Ingebrigtsen is the king of paced races. He also has the best CV at Global Championships over 1500m. He is the king overall.
If by “over 1500m” you mean “not including 1500m,” then COrrect.

Yared has no reason to be "devistated" (though that is just a LR meme) because honestly, prior to this year, 3:47 would have been the world record. As such, it is still a "decent" run/effort.
Seriously though, Yared is one of the only people in the world who can call his shot like that and have us take it seriously. How many others can do that? Maybe a dozen guys worldwide. Respect the guy with a 3:43 PR.
p.s. People get on Jakob for not having any real comp in his races (like he's dodging). Maybe the problem is that the best guys in Europe are just too slow for Jakob? That is not really his fault.
Nuguse has no idea how to draft what so ever. way too far back. and one guy to 2 min 10 sec or whatever, then again, Goose drafted very well following Jacob to the 343 mile. so its bipolar
Goose rhythm looked off in the early going.
al said, with a so so day at the office Goose ran pretty darn well. You may conclude that Jacob is 1 1/2 seconds ahead of the competition in runs without drafting.
3.47.22 is still INSANELY fast! None of you (or I) can come anywhere close to that fast indoors or outdoors. Put some respeK on the Gooses' Name..I ain't gonna say it NO MO

Was at BU, the first 200 was off record pace and that continued through the 800. By then it was really over. Hoare couldn’t stay with him and Nuguse ran a good second half but couldn’t make up the couple seconds off in his own. It was a gutty performance on his part though. Well done.

Who missed trying to qualify for something?
Nuguse was just taking a one off shot at indoor world record.
