I thought they said he ran 13:10 or 09 multiple times, but I saw 13:30's. obviously it was 13:39 , which is what I thought. Did anyone hear that 13;10 call as well? Or was I half asleep out of it..lol
Not taking anything away from Burns as he’s clearly starting to improve and a win is a win, but it sure seems like Liking is not at 100%. Burns closed in 29 and put several seconds on Liking in the final lap. Surely a 13:10 guy can close a 13:40 5k in at least 27 if he’s 100%?
His running legacy is made honestly. A lot of people thought he was finished. Winning a conference title is a big deal, especially during your sophomore year. This probably sounds dumb but should somebody like this aim for the Marathon team in 2028. The 5k and 10k seem competitive enough already for team USA. Marathon is honestly unconquered territory. Our top 10 American marathoners should be on a higher level soon. Some of these young guys should be thinking about going straight to the roads.
