this might be the dumbest post ive ever seen on here (and there is a lot of competition). jakob races anyone anywhere anytime and has for years. what planet are you on
I don't recall granting you permission to be a jerk. Jakob hasn't committed to racing Yared and the other two 1500m medalists from last year's Olympics in Grand Slam Track. I was clearly referring to GST when I talked about Yared's racing schedule from early April to late June. I'm hoping Jakob mans up and faces those guys in their GST event group without the aid of pacers and pacing lights.
You sound like Ice Cube calling out NBA players for not playing in Big3 games. There are levels to this sh*t bro. GST = Big3 = Minor Leagues

As if Jakob is the only one who benefits from pacers and lights lol. The other guys have him as a pacer the entire way every single race.
On the thread topic, I love Jakob’s post and Yared’s response. These guys seem to have a good rapport and I’m a huge fan of both. Looking forward to their next showdown.

Whats the point of doing the 800/1500 circus? They are not contending to be the best duathletes. The Diamond league have always been there, but I guess he was referring to Pre or worlds.
Look forward to the Goose-Hocker-Ingebrigtsen trifecta. I think they will deliver a lot of good banter without getting too serious.

GST is just an athlete selling out, and good for Ingebrigtsen if he takes a pass.
i cant believe the dumbest post got topped already in a short time period. similar to yared getting the record and jakob snatching it away so quickly.
let me let you in on a secret - pro track athletes make very little compared to professional athletes in other sports. to call them "selling out" bc someone THANKFULLY raised money from investors to try out a new league, and is paying athletes well enough to command their services, is a GOOD thing.
the diamond league was paying $10k for a fking win. give me a break. and streaming etc is a disaster. more money and competition is a good thing for the sport.
i would rather the top track athletes each make 10x more than they're currently making, wouldn't you? wtf is this "sell out" nonsense. shame on you.

sorry, its a troll message board. didnt mean offense. just thought it was weird the way you posted like jakob might be ducking him when if anything it would be the opposite (yared mans up and races too so it wouldn't be, but not to the same extent as jakob).

These guys are barely able to race without pacers or wavelights, majority of distance events are run in the diamond league like this. This is the premier circuit. Not sure why you feel the need to say Jakob need to “man up”. They know where to find him as well..

I don't align with the selling out argument but JI can make way more money racing in Europe than he can in the US (currently). Should he sacrifice that money to race in the GST? Given your stance in this last post on track athletes and money I would think not but let me know.

In other words, Jakob dodging Naguse IS a real thing?

Thanks, accepted. Obviously, I'm talking smack here, following Jakob's lead. I have great respect for Jakob, and I'd love to see him give GST a try. We all know what he can do with pacers and pacing lights. I want to see him get out of his comfort zone.

no i want all of these athletes from jakob to the guys at the back of the pack to make more money & they should all do what's best for them. if jakob can make more via appearance fees etc (that obv aren't available to these guys, at the same extent), then he should do that.
Running pro track is BRUTAL. it's a 24/7 commitment and the financial benefits aren't great unless you really transcend the sport like usain bolt. a few million dollars per year for the #1 guy in a sport is really not much money compared to a lot of sports.
I'm just a fan of GST bc i want more money and opportunities in the sport.

Because he also wants world records. He is racing at Pre which Hocker likely will as well. Nuguse also is not scared of racing so I would not be surprised if he is there as well. Kerr is the big question mark on whether he and Jakob will face off before champs.
Noah Lyles level trash talking. And I love it. Bravado, rivalries, historic performances...great for track. More of this.
Honestly he’s scared. He could have raced the best in the world last week at Millrose but instead decided to hold what essentially is a time trial. If he continues to avoid racing like this he’s going to keep getting beat when it really counts like he has been.
Man, the 1500 so loaded right now. Two guys just broke the indoor mile WR back to back (and it would have been three but one of them got second place!), and neither was the reigning Olympic champ - but then he just ran 7:23i! Like what???

There are 13 different championship finals where he have run without pacers and lights (as a senior), you will probably find them on youtube.

What sucks with gst is that it dilutes track and field as a product. You end up with fewer races where all the best are competing. The only way that works out is if GST pretends like its only Hocker, Nuguse and Kerr that matters in the 1500m. Then you have more or less sold the soul of the sport and are left with something akin to WWE. In WWE they pretend to be the best fighters there are, GST will pretend to show the fastest racers in the fastest races in the world.

Do you like LIV golf? The players receive multiple times what they made on the Tour. GTS is paying above market value salaries and I don’t believe there will be enough revenue to keep it going past a couple years.
The problem with GST is it will result in watered down competition. The best runners can’t be in top form for races in April, May, June and late June with the USATF coming up. It will end up mostly being sit and kicks. I don’t know if that will appease the record craving LRC crowd.
Why would I care how much track athletes make? Do NFL quarterbacks making $50-60M per year, give you a warm fuzzy feeling?

diamond league pays peanuts. so there will be some growing pains but the sport will get back there.

are you braindead? golfers and nfl players make a ton of money already. track athletes don't. your little pea brain can't decipher the difference? you probably opposed ncaa athletes getting paid despite generating billions for people off the field. coward
