Are you all ready to admit indoor tracks are faster yet?
Remember, this is the offseason, nobody hits their yearly peak for this
Why does the track have to be faster than outdoors to explain Jakob running 3:45.14 in February? His run today is equivalent to 3:28.5 for 1500 which is at least 2.5 seconds off what he’ll do outdoors.
Faster than his season opener at Pre last year… but that was May and it’s February, plus he ran the last 500m solo today
If he stays injury free, we'll see historical things this season. His insane shape + the fact it's certainly one of his last seasons focusing on fast times in 1500/mile is a great combo
I wonder if he will contest the 1500m in LA. I bet you he will. I don’t think one OG in the 1500m satisfies him, and he will still be young enough then.
Jakob probably feels like he needs to get the 1500 WR this year so that he has enough time in his career to move up and get all the other world records

I don't know, not impossible.
But for the WR, especially in the 1500, time is starting to run against him. I think his lifetime best will be set in 2025 or 2026. But I also think it will be a WR.
What an insane performance from Jakob so early in the season. He also mentioned in the pre-race interview that he would start focusing on some longer stuff this season. Maybe a fast 5000m is on the cards?

Jingy was quoted as being annoyed with Armstrongivis, so he’s going to go crush the 5K WR just to shut him up

The 5000 wr is child’s play to him. He can run that any time he wants over the next few years. It’s all about 3:25, and this year is his best chance. Only going to get harder for him.

Jakob should run a 3k as well so the Americans on this board go home devastated.
Great race. Glad to see this year is shaping up to be what we all want. No need for any hate. Just LOVE the 1500/mile, the greatest race in track! Some of what we can expect:
Jakob will break the World Record in the 1500m but might not even with the WC
Jakob, Hocker, Kerr, or Nuguse will break the mile record at the Pre Classic with guys LOSING the race in 3:44. Imagine running 3:44 and losing!
Hocker-Kerr-Nuguse will race 8 times in 12 weeks at GST
Green, Gary Martin, Elliot Cook, Ethan Strand, and about ten other NCAA guys will be fighting it out for the NCAA record
The indoor records will all get broken [already happened]
Kessler will continue to level-up and we'll have a "big five" in the event
Laros, the 20 year old Dutchman will run 3:27 in the 1500m
Myers, an Australian kid, will break the Australian record in the mile
And we'll get to see a World Championships in Tokyo that might be the most anticipated rematch in mile history: Kerr vs. Hocker vs. Jakob vs. Yared vs. the World.
