Yeah? And so what? The fact that he finished in 7:39 at 19 running in no man's land and finishing ? I believe in what would have been a Collegiate Record? Or close?

my point is that the last time he ran there, he tried to run fast. so MAYBE he will try again.
Of course, a man of sensibility is right. Thoughtsleader is one of the most reasonable posters on here and not because he agrees with me. I am not theorizing, I know what the purpose is. He has not had one(race) effort over a 200M Track in a while, he flew to Boston last year to run 1500, and won then came back to Millrose. It's not that big a flight from Michigan to Boston 2 hours or less.
Hobbs isn't in Michigan, He's in Flagstaff.
I predict Hobbs will emulate Jakob and pull away from the field when he wants.

I am telling you this, this is not a "go for 7:30" focus, it's a run to win focus, there is no reason to empty the tank a week before Millrose.
Are you Hobbs Dad or something? He ran an all out 1500m the week before Milrose last year.
Go for 7:30 or not, this race is full of Milers stepping up in distance. CPT, Myers, Houser and Kessler prefer front running things. Meaning they like to taste the lead and keep the pace going. Heck, Houser ran 7:40 last year at UW. I predict the winner will be 7:35 +-
Having said that, I would love to see it go 7:45+ with a massive final 600m.

A lot of milers like backing off for that massive final 600m though. And king likely has inside info into the plan here which could be to sharpen up some tactics and kick hard for the win as opposed to chase down a maximal 3,000 time. The race could surprise and I don’t think 7:35 is crazy but I’d go more like 7:37 myself as I could see a string of 32 laps after the pacer drops.
I think he’s capable of 7:32-7:33 based on his training volume and structure, but i have doubts it will be here. Woody Kincaid won this in around 7:40 two years ago… it’s not BU. If it’s slower though, he’ll embarrass people in the last 200
