I watched the Chiefs/Bills game. And while there were a few questionable calls that favored the Chiefs, I also saw a couple that favored the Bills. In particular, a no-call on a Bills false start near the goal line.
I think refs make bad calls all the time, for all teams. But when a team wins a lot, like the Chiefs, people are more prone to notice those bad calls. And that feeds the conspiracy theories.
The thing is, rigging football games just isn't necessary. The NFL and sports betting industries are already incredibly lucrative without needing to risk it with illegal game rigging. However, I do think refs are human beings who are susceptible to bias and influence.
