Jakob should've just said "I hope that means Kerr will race me at Euros this year since he keeps dodging me there". The world record racing bit doesn't hit as hard when Kerr got silver in the Olympics and Jakob didn't medal in the 1500, and Kerr beat him at WCs 2023, and Kerr won indoor world gold at a meet Jakob didn't even go to (although I'm sure he would've if he wasn't hurt).
Agreed. He has kinda numerous routes to attack Kerr, but I'd say they're more about dodging competitions and racing sparingly (going away obviously) than championship performance. His best dig at Kerr on the record front would be to tell him to get a real record or something to dig at the 2 mile one, and his superior European 1500m record in the 1500.
Another line of attack could be to say maybe Josh Kerr has the balls to race a second event this year, and point out has 3 straight golds at 5,000 while Kerr complains about being exhausted after every global champs and cuts his season short before the DL final.
We are only nine days into 2025 and the Kerr-Ingebrigtsen war of words has already resumed.
On an episode of the Citius Mag Podcast that was released on Thursday, Josh Kerr offered his thoughts on Jakob Ingebrigtsen not signing up as a Racer for Grand Slam Track:
"I think it's smart that he didn't sign up, to be honest. In any non-paced race, he hasn't won in the last couple of years. And so you're going to throw him in a bunch of non-paced races? It seems silly, to do that. It's gonna expose most of his tactical stuff. And if he was in the 800-1500 group, watching him run the 800 would be a lot like a deer on ice."
The amusing thing to me is that neither of them are giving the other any credit at all. Ingebrigtsen is certainly more vulnerable in non-paced races, but he was brilliant in winning the European champs last year without rabbits -- a meet that Kerr notably skipped.
Meanwhile Kerr's first race of 2024 was a world indoor record in the 2 mile that he announced he was targeting months ahead of time. Now it helped a lot that Kerr had Grant Fisher pushing the pace up front in that race, but Kerr said he was going for the WR and got it.
Not sure I get the Kerr deer on ice thing considering he fell the last time he ran an 800? Fish out of water maybe a better turn of phrase.

Norwegians, can we get a translation on this excerpt from the TV2 article?
– Det frister ikke å løpe de 800-meterne bare for å få duellene på 1500? – Det er nok en dårlig løsning, svarte 23-åringen og flirte.
Google Translate has the English translation as this: – Isn't it tempting to run the 800 meters just to get the duels in the 1500? – That's probably a bad solution, the 23-year-old replied, flirting.
I'm kind of confused by the use of the word flirting in this context. Is there something I'm missing? Or does it basically just mean Jakob is teasing or being playful when he said the line?

Failed to win Olympic Gold twice. Doesn't even win the same # of non paced races as the guy he is criticising. Competes a few times a year. This guy is hilarious and is ragebaiting us. No way you guys believe any of this sh*t.
I don't know what Jakob's plans are for the indoor season (I'm guessing he's gonna run in Lievin, as that is sort of a tradition by now), but it would be so amusing if he decides to run a 2 mile race, and obliterate Kerr's 8:00.67, just to rub it in.

It would provide further proof that Kerr is living inside Jakob’s head.
If we look at all outdoor races (finals only) from 2020 and up until today we get:
Kerr:
1500m: 5 victories in 17 races
Mile: 1 victory in 1 race
Jakob:
1500m: 19 victories in 27 races
Mile: 4 victories in 5 races
Kerr: "Jakob doesn't win many non-paced races", well Kerr doesn't win many races, period.
If we look at all the championships finals they've faced off in, it's 3-2 in Jakob's favor, or technically 4-2, they did face off in Bydgoszcz 2016.
People keep repeating that "Jakob is choking in the big championships" He has one title so far. Just like Kerr has. If not winning gold is "choking" then by that logic Kerr choked in Doha 2019, Tokyo 2021, Eugene 2022, and Paris 2024. They need to be held to the same standard. Also, what happened to Kerr in the Commonwealth Games final in Birmingham 2022? Oh, that's right, he finished 12th (last). This is rarely brought up. If we're gonna look at Jakob's lows, we need to look at Kerr's lows as well.
This board is full of Jakob fanboys who downvote anyone who speaks positively about Kerr. Isn't this the same group that claimed after the Bowerman Mile that Kerr had peaked and Jakob would easily beat him at the Olympics?

Yeah I don't know why people try to talk down on Kerr. He is a great athlete and is a 3:27, 8:00 runner. I think Jakob is better however that does not mean Kerr is not a bad athlete in any way but there are people on this board who suck up too much.

Forgot the not in "not a bad athlete."

"Og flirte"
"Flirte" means grinned (Flire = grinning)
("Og" means and)
Edit: Might as well translate all of it:
– Det frister ikke å løpe de 800-meterne bare for å få duellene på 1500? – Det er nok en dårlig løsning, svarte 23-åringen og flirte.
Isn't it tempting to run those 800 meters too, just so you can get the duels in the 1500m?

I don't think there are many posts by a group here.
