Huge news. She had narrowed it to NC State and NAU so sounds like they want to keep her at altitude and near her pops. Going to influence a couple of future recruits.
Huge news? For whom? Who gives a crap where she goes? She’s not even ranked top 3.
She almost certainly could have gone to Stanford or an Ivy and she choose NAU? Just like Engelhardt choosing NC State
It's a pretty safe bet that particularly Addie will end up making a career in the running industry. Either as a pro runner, coach or manager in running/shoe industry.
This can often be a well earning, satisfying choice. All she needs for that is good running and a bachelors degree from anywhere.
If she later decides on a different route, good grades at NAU and a strong grad school still works.
I'm sure she and her advising group thought this thru, and felt altitude and less stress academics was a good choice. The NAU women's team now very good, and the group has a nice Southwest vibe.
Rumors are Daddy Ritz said no to NC State and he’s getting more involved with her training since she showed minimal improvement from last year to this year under Coach Kelly and his low mileage big volume workout system

Can you explain low mileage big volume? What's the volume, if mileage is low.
Minimum workout 6k worth of hard work, typical 6-8k, bigger day up to 10k. Facts. My son is friends with a varsity guy on their team, tells him their workouts. My kids team is bad and I wish they’d do more but too late for a change with CHSAA transfer rules. Coach Kelly told guys there were no longer aloud on Strava but I got the scoop. But hey- a trip to NXN that type of training is worth it
Allow me to elaborate: she has a 4.33 weighted GPA. I would say that is good enough to get in(though it would be fairly expensive.
Sorry, it's not just the GPA, it's the classes. Are they easier weighted classes or really, really hard ones that take critical thinking, hard work and a gift.
Yes, I know what "weighted GPA's" mean, I really do...but you don't truly know the classes she took. If they are mainly AP classes, then yes, she's bright.
Regardless, if you are reading this Addy, I'm not knocking you at all young lady and I sincerely wish you well. But I had friends who had weighted GPA's in the 4.6 range!!!! and I know how they got them---not saying you did.
No matter what, you are clearly smart and will go far with your studies and running.
I've met your Dad several times, a very nice guy and a great runner.
