Off the top of my head, Alan Webb went 47.xx and 27 low, only dabbling at these distances. I find this at least as impressive.
Same year ?
The 400 actually may have been in high school. I know he went 1:47.xx in HS. The 10,000 was some years later, in 2006 but before his 1:43.xx the following year, I believe.

This is an incredibly impressive result for a guy who has run 46.10. You will almost never see that combo: 46.10 and 1:11:16.

The top of your head is wrong.
Webb's lifetime 10,000 PR was 27:34.
I can't be bothered to look up his 400, but often when someone presents false information as fact there is a pattern so I don't tend toward believing you without a reference.

Whatever. Still more impressive than Arop's 1:11...By far.

I was too tired last night to look up the details when I was reading the thread, but I had the basic idea right. 47.4 400 relay split in HS, 1:43.84 800 in '06, 27:34 10,000 in'07.

So you admit that you simply lie. "Whatever." 😆
And actually no, it is not more impressive at all.
We're not talking about which is a better-ranked performance.
We're talking about which is more "impressive" -- and a 1:41.2 800 man also running a 1:11 is much more interesting, rare and impressive than an elite miler running a 27:xx 10k.
Hocker, Ingebrigtsen, etc all have sub-13 5000 times. You don't think they can run 27:34? FFS Nordas has run 27:31 ON THE ROAD. And he has the same 1500 time as Webb.
It's just not exceptional for an elite miler.
Show me ONE OTHER 1:41 man with a 1:11 half, or you lose.
Why does this uncontroversial post have so many deleted comments? Bizarre
Anyway that's a really nice effort from Arop, especially when you remember he's 6'4 and probably 180+ in the offseason. He is not one of those small strength-based 800/1500 guys who you can easily imagine moving up to 5k if they upped their mileage.

Actually, I'll give you a fighting chance.
I have shown you Nordas, a 3:30 man like Webb with a better 10k than Webb.
Show me one single sub-1:44 man with an 1:11 half, or you lose.
