No one can ever take away what Julien ran a few years ago, when he was at his greatest level. 27:13 10k / 59:13 Half marathon clearly is times at an international level!
The most difficult (and toughest) challenge for Wanders is accepting where he stands today. Learning from his past mistakes - races on training sessions and comes to competitions without any extra gear when it matters most! He is a real "training warrior" but if he doesn't reach his potential in competitions, it's a waste of time. This is where all the overtraining, illness and injuries have resulted.
With a long-term mindset, building fitness slowely and progressive, there is still lot of time for Wanders to reach his previous level. Patient is the key to success. But that will never happen if he steps on the same mines as he has done in recent years.
At least I'm one of many out there who wishes Wanders future achievements.
