That's actually a good idea. If we ever figure out what's going on with that Mike Smith group he could run workouts with them whenever the schedules line up.
I can see him getting a little worse year by year. Last year was the honeymoon phase coming off if Jerry’s training for years. Now his decision to go off alone will come back to haunt him
Why would a runner as good as Fisher -- there aren't any btw -- move to Utah just to be his training partner? Fisher training by himself seems appropriate.

^^^same guy that said Ingebrigtsen had peaked in 2019.

No never said that or thought that. Just know why I see and bad move to be training alone and looking for a training b!tch. His success is 90% from Jerry

Posted the following on another thread but most appropriate here:
Since Grant stated he is not at a stage in his career where he is willing to "mentor" a younger guy, that rules out any current or recently graduated collegians.
Grant also stated he did not want to name names for fear of being perceived as "poaching' other teams runners. However, he stated there are a few good candidates he has in mind.
My best guess would be the obvious: his former teammates from BTC whom he has known for years, gets along with, and are very talented veteran runners.
I.e., Mo Ahmed, Woody Kincaid, Sean McGorty.
We shall see.
Kincaid and his kick seem like they'd benefit Grant a lot, only issue is that I doubt Kincaid would leave Smith.
Eh I think Fisher's got the wrong attitude. There's not really much benefit to running with partners unless you just aren't good at motivating yourself and need competition to push yourself in training, which I highly doubt Fisher struggles with. If you're running with a partner or in a group, odds are that some or all are either over or undertraining in order to stay with each other. Learn how to gauge your own effort instead of staying with someone or running a prescribed pace. Drafting off someone to shave off a couple milliseconds off your splits doesn't make a difference either - your heart, legs and lungs don't care what your watch says.
Find a partner that makes running more enjoyable, that you can have conversations with on your easy runs or outside of practice. Your partners make running fun and not as lonely, and I think those fun memories you make with your teammates are worth just as much as the PR's and medals.
If he's looking for people he doesn't have to mentor who can push him in workouts, I think he's talking about Cole Hocker and to a lesser extent Cooper Teare. Both of them are faster than him at 1500m, they are close enough in 5000m, and also close at 3000m. Fisher does not have Hocker's speed and never will, so Hocker will always qualify as someone who can push Fisher. Hocker has an Olympic gold so obviously needs no mentoring from Fisher.
Hocker benefits as he's stated he'd like to win the 5000m gold, so he needs someone who has better endurance than him to push him in those kind of workouts.
Teare needs to get his 5000m in the 1240s to become a lock for the next Olympics. Might just need slight "mentoring" from Fisher but it's not really that since Teare has made a WC team before.
Obviously why would Hocker change his situation? Perhaps it's just Hocker/Teare/Thomas traveling to Park City during the season and marrying up with Fisher for certain workouts, and Hocker getting altitude which I'm not sure he's done before.
Yomif seems ideal. Biya Simbassa is currently based in Flagstaff and might be a good fit personality-wise. Kibiwott Kandie has complementary strengths and would be an intriguing partner if he's up for a big cultural shift.
It won't happen for a number of reasons, but it's fun to imagine Fisher selecting Drew Hunter to be his training partner. Former high school rivals turned teammates.

Maybe Grant’s championship racing tactics will rub off on Yomif and they could pull a 10k Gold/Silver like Farah/Rupp did
