Man, posts like these are why people dump on LetsRun. Some loser in his parent's basement making fun of the way someone looks does not contribute to any meaningful conversation. It is just hurtful.
That's not a thyroid cyst - it's too high and is clearly a branchial cleft cyst. So, whatever you were implying, it's misinformation and your post ought to be deleted.
Up to half the population has or will have a thyroid nodule in their lifetime. Benign nodules are typically only removed if they're causing problems with swallowing, speaking, etc.

I know a couple of people who have had them, although one person just got it zapped instead of removed.
I have a relatively large (benign) nodule, which is why I know. Mine isn't visible or causing any problems, but it grew substantially in the last year. Zapping was discussed, although it sounds pretty uncomfortable. They essentially stick a probe into it to do the zapping.
I was shocked to learn how common thyroid nodules are. So common that the medical community created a set of guidelines on whether a biopsy is even warranted. Most of the time it's not.

I have one co-worker who blames her obesity on her nodule. From my observation, it's her daily alcohol habit and lack of exercise that might be the bigger issue but hey, I'm not a dr!
