I have been in law enforcement, my dad has and brother is. All of us democrats. I guess we would be considered liberal? But i will tell you i am conservative on “some issues.” Just like i don’t believe everyone on the right is the same.
In my race yesterday I stepped out of the port a potty right as the anthem was starting, and found myself needing to force my way up front during it or be stuck starting with the slow people. Some guys lining up got super mad at me for trying to force my way up front during it. I know it isn't the "right time" to push up front, but it's also a warning that the race is about to start so I don't feel too bad about it. Having to pee after warming up left me with no good options. Having to start with the slow crowd would have made it like showing up to a group run and defeated the whole purpose of showing up to race.

Studies have shown that Democrats are much less patriotic, when you see a flag in someone's yard you know they are Republican...There are exceptions to every rule of course, we are speaking of generalities.

What is more Patriotic? Because you fly the flag on your lawn or truck, that makes you more patriotic? And it’s not even about that. You can love and appreciate your country without doing those things. There is a LARGE gap between a flag flying patriot and someone who “hates” their country. Some people are just going on about their lives and enjoying and thankful for the freedoms and liberties they have. Just let people live bro. We are MORE patriotic than you because we fly the flag everywhere? Come on what are we talking about here

Any old rendition? Not really, I’ve been an athlete, a fan, a coach, and for a while I covered sports for my local paper, so I’ve heard the song 10,000 times. But every now and then you get a really good version. Whitney Houston from OP was one. Another was at a basketball game I covered, where the singer failed to show up so the announcer asked the fans to sing it together, and we did. That was really cool. At a 5k they had a similar situation where the starter asked if anyone wanted to step up and sing it, and some random runner volunteered and did a 10/10 job. So it CAN be a magical song, even after I’ve heard it so many times.

Thats the typical Republican superficial take. overt and dramatic demonstrations of patriotism, like large flag displays, tatoos, hats, bumper stickers and in-your-face ads and speeches are not a measure of patriotism. They can be in fact signs of weak resolve or insecure (defensive) feelings. Many veterans in fact do not wear the gear you often see advertising service, wars, ships, Companies, etc. They fly no flags, may or may not have a tatoo, and at most only discuss their service with other veterans...but not necessarily. They dont necessarily resent seeing others displaying their "colors" and service emblems but dont feel the need to advertise. It isnt necessary to advertise or shout your patriotism or history to have *proven* it. You wont find many of us, though, who cant dig up their DD214, a few pics, a Liberty card or two and maybe medal or two in an old cigar box. flying your flag is fine! Just dont think that youur neighbor who doesnt isnt s good American--and possibly a veteran of foreign war.
