I remember when I was in college, all the liberals were talking about how Chaney needed to be tried as war criminals for what they did to Iraq. Now they embrace the Chaney family with open arms.

Most shocking to me is realizing we have been "mad" or running toward it for decades, a kind of sub-surface growing population of Morlocks, who finally found their Champion, and came forth to claim the land. A grotesque figurehead that, with all his flaws and strangeness, was all they had but had the zeitgeist and raw power to install him on his golden throne. (No reference to bathroom fixtures.)

K. Harris ran a very good short campaign. People will argue whether inviting Cheney to join the fight was wise or not. It was never to embrace her political viewpoints. It's purpose was to show the Threat of Trump was so uniquely real that many respected staff and Republicans were sounding the alarm.
But here is where the lesson was learned. It was believed that if you could show Americans what a threat Trump was it would cause them to vote against him. But the reality is that Americans are OK with Authoritarianism or fascism. (whatever you want to call it) as long as their guy Trump is the guy to do it. They don't and won't have a problem with any fascist things Trump will do in the future. They like it!
Yes, because he is entertaining. They wouldn't want a fascist boring politician, even one with conservative views such as a Mitt Romney. They want the guy who pretends to give a bj to his microphone stand. People are addicted to this entertainment, on Fox, their phones etc... all of life must be entertaining. Shows how shallow her campaign was and why she lost. If she had just ran on what she could do instead of what Biden did and not being trump. She probably would have won.
She made many mistakes in her campaign. Now there’s finger pointing going on in the Dem machine as to whose fault the loss is. Of course after throwing Biden out like trash he’s now once again an easy target being blamed for the loss. Can’t make this stuff up. Good riddance!
You won't know the democracy is over until it's too late. We are moving towards Russian "elections" and the only thing stopping trump from squatting in the white house is now his age. The checks and balances are already broken, with senators and the supreme court giving him anything he wants. If the republican machine backs someone young next instead of fracturing, we are done.

I personally am more worried about the fascist things the democrats did in the past than what some fake news propagandists warns me Trump might do.
It's very sad that Trump won and it isn't a good statement about Americans. Americans have been conned by Fox News, Putins propaganda machine and some Billionaires mega influence.
It will be interesting what happens next. The optimist in me says it might not get as bad as I think it could get. But I might be horrible wrong about this. If Project 2025 and Elon Musk can really take the US government apart we will be in for an apocalyptic ride. People think it's a great idea to shrink the government, they will be surprised what they actually did, when things start to stop working.

The reason she says everything is going to be OK because she doesn't want to incite a riot. Even if Trump has a lot of ideas that are very scary to her, she tells her followers it's going to be alright to try and calm people down.
