Hmm, I would’ve thought he’s been earning more than those numbers over the years, especially after Tokyo gold.
I’m curious if he also has money going into an LLC or some other way to hide it from the public. On the new ingebrigtsen documentary, they say something to the effect of Nike treating him like few other athletes they sponsor. Not just pro runners. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was making more
Frankly not that much for someone at the top of a sport… that’s a good but not top NBA monthly salary
Tadej Pogacar signed 50mil Euro 6 year deal (~$9/year) and that's just only from his UAE team.
Dutch cyclist Matthew van der Poel made about € 4,000,000 last year (~ $4.4 million). He is rumored to be signing for € 10,000,000 for next year. That is not including money from sponsorships, appearance fees, and prize money. The top 50 cyclists are probably all bringing in more than Ingebrigsten. There’s a lot more money in the sport so it’s not surprising.
all his travel, medical, etc. can probably go as tax write offs that aren't included in the number. what else would be looking at? How could an LLC best be utilized for someone in his situation? because that is definitely something that's going on.
Come on this isn't real, this is just how he's doing his accounting this year.
It may have a lot or absolutely no relation to his actual earnings.
I'm actually annoyed at how you report it straight up like this - it's misleading at best
Yeah I sure hope there's more to the story, like there's deferred compensation or other income not accounted for, because his number should be way higher.
Maybe makes you appreciate Peter Snell, Ron Clarke, Jim Ryun, Lasse Viren, Frank Shorter, Seb Coe, et al all even more. Running, in some cases, close to the same times with less technology, less knowledge and far less money than runners today. Just gutting it out for the joy and glory of it
Professional basketball is a multibillion dollar enterprise. As the stars of the show, players are well compensated.
Professional track and field is a puny enterprise compared with basketball and other major professional sports. Even the stars don't command all that much money, and most competitors barely make a decent wage.
And this is why top tier athletic talent (yes, the fastest runners in the world) aren’t racing. They play sports that offer 10-20x the total comp a gold medal WRvtrack athlete will see.
Football, soccer, basketball. That’s where they go. And baseball, but those aren’t runners.

The fact is just that competitive running isn't anywhere close to as popular as a lot of other spots.
Jakob is one of the most famous runners ever, at a time when social media is huge, and he has only 690k Instagram followers. Steph Curry has 58 million. Heck, even Caitlin Clark has 3 million.

Yup, and these world elite riders all have big bonus clauses in the contract for winning monument races or a grand tour.
Remember this isn’t like the USA the only country that taxes worldwide income. This is Jacob’s income in Norway. This wouldn’t include anything he won or made outside Norway. So almost all his race winnings were outside Norway.
