Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s Income More Than Doubled In 2023 To $2.3 Million

In 2023, Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen had quite a season both on and off the track.

In addition to winning World Championship gold in the 5000 and silver in the 1500, Ingebrigtsen put up world-leading times in the 1500 (3:27.14), mile (3:43.73), 3000 (7:23.63), and 2-mile (7:54.10), with the latter time being a world record. And he was paid quite handsomely for his efforts.

According to VG, his total compensation for the year post-deductions but pre-taxes was 25.4 million NOK, which converts to $2.3 million. That’s a more than 100% increase from the 11.3 million NOK he made in 2022 ($1.0 million) and more than 6.5 times what he made in 2021 (3.8 million NOK/$340,000) when he won Olympic gold for the first time.

According to VG, Ingebrigtsen paid NOK 11.8 million in tax in 2023 ($1.1 million), which wasn’t too far off the total income earned by 400m hurdles world record holder Karsten Warholm (approximately 15 million NOK/$1.4 million).

VG knows all of this because in Norway tax records can be accessed by the public or press.

Ingebrigtsen also got married in 2023 to Elisabeth Asserson.
