I just read this and I'm not entirely sure it proves the point you think it does. The article does mention a difference between average viewership and cumulative viewership, but if anything the big takeaway is that neither metric is going to be an accurate estimate for how many people actually watched. It's within the realm of possibility that an average viewership of 15 million equates to--or is lower than--a cumulative viewership of ~60 million.
