This is an old tired argument. Back when Tipper Gore was getting rock music lyrics banned or labeled it was pointed out that there are many many many older "standards" that would be banned or censored. "Mack The Knife" -killing "Once For the Road"- drinking and driving "I Shot the Sheriff"- gun violence

It's usually better to just not try to censor stuff.

Sorry to hijack with a movie theme but I mentioned this on another thread...are we aware that in Fast Times, there is a line where Phoebe Cates points out that Stacy will be TURNING 15? Turning 15! She is 14 in the movie dating that bad ol' Ron Johnson. This went right over my head for decades and hundreds of viewings.

It’s not like that subject matter is considered any more perverse or offensive now than it was when the song was 25 years ago. It’s just The Dan being The Dan.

The song is called “I Saw Her Standing There” and was written by Paul McCartney when he was 20 and legit dating a 17 year old, which wasn’t at all weird then and wouldn’t be at all weird now if you can think about it honestly. Also, the target audience was largely teenagers. Not exactly “A song for pedophiles.”

Even the Stones think Brown Sugar is too much. Think about that. One of their most popular songs and a barnburner played live. Out behind the woodshed. The inflatable doll, zipper album guys came to that conclusion.

There has already been a lot of talk about "cancelling" the classic "Baby It's Cold Outside". The song is a duet in which the female singer is wanting to leave and the male singer continues to make advances even after the female singer explicitly rejects the advances.
