He not only broke Jacob Kiplimos half marathon WR, but along the way he destroyed Cheptegeis15km WR too!
15Km WR was 41:05, Yomif did it in 40:56.
I fully agree with you. I just want to say that Cheptegei's 15km WR was set at the Seven Hills run which is an undulating course. Not hilly but undulating.
Kejelcha is one of my favorite athletes. I sympathize with his champ racing problems(though I have never had them myself) and love his range and grit. His range is superhuman. How the hell does he have the indoor mile record AND now the Half record(unofficial). Also what the hell were those pacers. I could have (barely) last that far. Those guys left at like 10 minutes.

His indoor mile record was set in Boston, so it’s every bit as fast as running outdoors, or maybe even faster. 3:47 is very fast, but it being the indoor WR doesn’t add to it.
Kejelcha is a perfect human specimen for foot racing. He sort of brings an ostrich effect as his bio height is listed at only 6-1 but on raceday he has a 6-3 /6-4 presence on his toes.
Maybe that 6-1 measure is flat footed?
Kejelcha is being recognized for his range. This is true but he, at such a high level, has endured somewhat of a slump in the past 12 - 36 months. On physical talent alone -- which is other worldly -- he makes the Olympic finals but was missing the motivation part to some extent and seemed to only be going "through the motions" as the American idiom suggests in this recent time period. This win and world record is something to be excited about because Kejelcha will be excited again and bring that new edge to his next races.
What's it going to take for that men's American record to go. I thought Bor would get a lot closer considering his past success on the roads and the fact that the record was the focus of his fall training. 61:20 is just not cutting it. Mantz or one of our top non-medaling 10k guys needs to take that thing before Fisher puts it out of reach.
It’s mind boggling how damn aerobically weak Jakob is after fizzling out at 27:27 10k split while kejelcha floats by in 27:12 seriously ?
With that stat it leads me to think how jakob is nowhere near 12:39 5000m shape and would never make it at this distance for the world record let alone the 10k.
The king of physics says Jakob is done and dusted in space and time bah!
BUT they appear to be looping the race video over and over at this address
if you tune in and it looks like the finish with the regular runners, just wait an hour and it will loop over back to the elite starts for men and women, I think
right now at 2pm EDT it looks like they are about to start the elites (again)
