The most contrived phony baloney moment in history. He was not even remotely a top college player. Not even a top 75 HS prospect. He might, might dominate your local early morning Y game.
It's up there with when they literally stopped a game for 10min to present a player with a trophy for scoring the most points in NBA history. Sadly and interestingly both these moments involve the same player.
I'll give it to Lebron - the things he single-handedly has been able to make happen to serve his own agenda are quite remarkable. He's basically the GM/Coach/Player of the Lakers and has been since day one, he made the "ceremony" happen and now he's really topped it all by not just getting his son onto a roster, but getting him 3min of gameplay to satisfy his well know selfish but ultimately meaningless agenda of "first father and son to the play in an NBA game".
He is completely insufferable - albeit one of the best players we've ever seen, but don't forget that he has only gotten away with this because the league and the Lakers specifically are just pathetic entities that have allowed this to happen. Adam Silver is a comically feeble pushover that former greats openly laugh at, Jeannie Buss is just a male pleaser still harboring a weird dad complex that manifests itself in bending over backwards for a player like Lebron and JJ Reddick has so little clue of what he's doing, the last person he would ever stand up to is Lebron who I'm sure didn't have to try very hard to sell the virtues of giving his kid 3 token and pointless minutes of game time.
Just symbolic of the era I guess. Players sign contracts to play 82 games of basketball (bouncing and passing a ball then throwing it through a metal hoop) in 6 months, but despite the best access to training, recovery, nutrition, travel etc need to take games off even though the games are also far less physical than they ever have been. Players sign contracts for tens of millions of dollars - making more in a calendar year than multiple hard working American households make in 30 years combined, and the moment they want more they are simply given it.

I could see a lesser franchise resorting to such measures to appease a superstar. A storied franchise like the Lakers shouldn't have to stoop to such lows.
I feel bad for the more deserving player who didn't get drafted by the Lakers and doesn't have an NBA contract with them because that roster spot went to a nepotism pick who only averaged 4.8 points/game on 36.6% shooting in college.

It seems like the Lakers now have an incentive to NOT have 10 players on their roster better than Bronny. Otherwise, what is already an awkward situation for everyone on the team gets even more awkward every time Bronny comes in ahead of someone clearly better than him.

The Lakers weren’t forced to do anything. They decided another year of Lebron was worth drafting a guy that is not NBA ready. They (wisely) signed up for that.

The problem is Bronny didn't earn his spot. If he had been successful in the NCAA, then we wouldn't see so many people having an issue with this. But he averaged less than five points per game in college. This is after averaging only 14 points per game as a high school senior. Does that sound like the resume of someone who deserves to be in the NBA?
It's nice that he can jump high, but he needs to be able to do a lot more than that to be able to contribute to winning basketball. As for his shot, there's a huge difference between making uncontested threes in a shooting drill and shooting in a competitive game with an opposing team playing defense. Seriously, look at this video of him shooting threes at the combine, casually jogging to his spots:
