Exactly! No one involved wants that because there is no telling what else would be revealed. Facts that come out might be very interesting to other parties and jurisdictions.
You might want to be very careful what you write online because it could be the basis of a defamation lawsuit. Then you would be required to PROVE in court who the victim was, and that is impossible.
Yes. I'm sure you want a bunch of investigators looking at this case carefully. You'll be real happy with the findings.
It would be nice if the NAIA Ethics Code violations were specified. Was it the raping, the testosterone massages in Nick's garage, or what? The way it's done, the Wiley/Johnson Cabal will no doubt suggest that things have fallen apart since she graduated (did she graduate?) and he was fired.
Howe does the fake recruiting trip to Oregon have anything to do with Wiley? The victim's name has never been released. You might want to be very careful what you write online because it could be the basis of a defamation lawsuit. Then you would be required to PROVE in court who the victim was, and that is impossible. Who will you ask to defend you? The police? The courts? NOBODY will ever release the name of the anonymous victim. I wonder how much $ a professional track athlete and public figure could get for defamation and possible loss of income?
First of all, the plaintiff bears the burden of proof in a defamation case. And secondly, there are probably dozens upon dozens of people who could be subpoenaed to testify who the child was that Nick snuck off with. Was he coaching, living with, or romancing any other kids at that time?
Nick Johnson only got convicted of a level 6 felony which is essentially what a repeat drunk driver gets convicted of. Its a slap on the wrist conviction. He’ll probably only serve time of like 6 months or some bull$hit home sentencing with probation. The athletic director gets to keep their job, Curtis Hines is running for school board and Lauren Johnson coaches Addy Wiley AND a youth Revival track club. This whole thing exemplifies how corrupt the Huntington community is from the top down and the kids on the team now, are paying for it.
A slap on the wrist 4 years later that will have almost no impact on any of the many people responsible. The AD, the president, the head track coach will all continue to collect their paycheck despite ignoring the obvious red flag for years and refusing to cut ties with the Johnsons when they should have been looking out for the safety of their athletes. The program needs to be shut down, people need to lose their jobs and the legal system needs to do everything possible to hold these staff members accountable.

My favorite Curtis Hines story is when the stuff about HU first went public and the runners were explicitly told they were not to meet/speak with the coaching staff…and that same day Curtis Hines uploaded a Strava run which showed he was clearly on campus and running with the team.

I don't know why you are responding to me, I said nothing about an Oregon visit.
But if you are worried about loss of income, think of the $ that Lauren cost her ONLY athlete by failing to get her onto the Olympic team. A 1:56 woman not making a weak team this year is CRIMINAL.
Wiley was also (reportedly) coming off an injury. There's numerous factors to poor performance other than just the coach.
Having said that, yes Huntington is a total circus and this ban should have happened sooner and Wiley should not win any supporters by continuing to support the guilty.
Anyone who thinks any aspect of this is on the level is showing extraordinary naivety. The PEDS in this sport are so powerful that they turn mules into racehorses. It is a chemistry experiment masquerading as a sport, because the chemistry trumps all. NJ had prescriptions for EPO and testosterone. The fact is that the sport can be gamed. All it takes is a little doping knowhow and the unscrupulousness to do it. Both of which exist in this case in spades.

You're right. He signed out the other Huntington North athlete being recruited by Oregon.

And there is a reasonable chance that his conviction could be overturned on appeal for prosecutorial misconduct. From the WANE article <
Top German tuner Techart will use next week’s 2023 Bangkok auto show to launch its new line of upgrades aimed at improving a car’s track performance. The new line is called Flyweight, a…
"Before the jury began deliberation around 2:30 p.m., the defense filed a motion for a mistrial because the state made a comment about lack of evidence presented by defense and lack of testimony from Johnson. That motion was denied by the judge."
I don't know about Indiana, but in some other states, any reference by the prosecutor to a defendant exercising his right to not testify in front of the jury is grounds for a new trial.

Think you’re overcomplicating it. Nick was officially convicted of sexual battery a few weeks ago. That conviction essentially confirms that the school did in fact know about it and didn’t do or report anything. Don’t think the NAIA had their own special detectives investigating Huntington on the side. This is just an extension of the court ruling.
Johnson did bad things. Reports were made. Huntington should’ve escalated this when it happened. They didn’t. Courts found him guilty. Now here’s the slap on the wrist from the NAIA.
I have nothing to back this up, but I really think that’s all there is to it.
punishing the program (now that the coach is long gone). How about banning the coach for life from coaching in the NAIA.
the athletes on the team now (who had 0 to do with this). They in no way should be getting punishment/probation for what happened - what 4 years ago.
If the NAIA wanted to do anything - how about 1) respond (with a clear written statement) about what happened, etc. 2) Ban the coach. 3) Acknowledge that athletes who were given injections (EPO) came forward and ask their titles be stripped. Those athletes, in my opinion, should be recognized as true heroes of the sport for coming forward after being manipulated by a coach. They did the right thing. We need more people like them.
I competed in the NAIA and just lot a ton of respect for the institution over this.
