My wife's friend recently started some sort of fitness regime that involves a special diet and exercise. She raved about it and gave us her specially formulated food plan.
We agreed to try it out. I like it as I don't like having to think about what I want to cook. Each week, it gives you a few options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We started yesterday. I must say it's been a big success as I lost 2 pounds on day 1.
The issue is halfway through the day I realized I was thinking a lot about food. Then it hit me, "Why would I eat the same amount as my wife and her friend? I weigh 50% more than them."
The meal plan was designed for someone who is small, ten years younger and probably weights 120. I am over 180. So to make it right for me, should I just up it by 50%? Or does it not work like that? If not, what are my options other than paying for the detailed meal plan for myself?
By my math, that's only 300 calories. I just added up the entire day and it comes to just under 1000 calories. Oh wait, I forgot the 170 calorie protein shake. So just under 1200 calories.
No wonder I'm hungry.
Hello Rojo,
Your diet is directly proportional to your body weight.
In my bodybuilding days, I was eating between 1700-4700 calories depending on time of year, but 1 thing was constant - 1g protein per lb of body weight.
Theres plenty of online calculators to help you work out how much you need, but many many people over complicate this.
Weight yourself every few days. Write down exactly what you eat on your diet. Is your weight dropping at a rate of .5-1lb per week, then you’re good. If it’s not going down, then move more or eat less.
When you’re dieting and hungry hungry, lettuce and courgettes are your best friend. IMO, do not sacrifice all fats from your diet, you’ll need it for regular hormone production, especially in a caloric deficit.
coming from a fellow fitness buss this is good advice. protein and vegetables are good for you as they have tons of the right stuff that you need if you want to lose weight and get in good shape as if your working out a TON but not eating good then you can still be out of shape as that's how important eating healthy is in my mind

People forget that what they put in their mouths directly impacts their health and recovery.
The amount of micronutrients that people miss out on by eating crap or simply hitting their macros from pure laziness is astounding

I LOVE this post as that's what i've been saying all along as no one ever said you couldn't have a dorito the problem is eating a TON of doritos EVERY single day as that ruins your diet no matter how many other vegetables you have as that's the problem with american today everyone eats SUPER processed foods all the time

the problem with America today is they is soft and lazy and need to take a TON and LOTS more naps and stop working so much as stop working at all as if the libs would just stop working so hard the laptop and jewish space lasers and the emails and hunter and this is why I am so darn fat not from smashing doritos in between my hourly naps and maybe if I go yell at them kids to get off my lawn I would burn up some calories

wow as I don't agree with everything here but with america today being soft and lazy i agree as that's the problem it takes hard work to get work done and lose weight and get strong but not everyone wants to do the work
This guy must have a humiliation fetish, right? No one is actually this dumb and totally lacking self awareness, right?
please tell me this guy is just playing a character and doesn't really think like this?
as thinking be hard as it interferes with valuable nap time and TV watching as so we don't do it also as playing a character be hard as it be work as we don't do that neither
Rojo you ran a 2:23 marathon, coached college athletes to a multitude of championships, know more about pro track/field/running than almost anyone in the world, and somehow you don't understand diets and calories ??

You are correct - you should tailor your caloric restriction to your actual BMR plus calories burned through moving/exercise. The general recommendation is to lose 1-2 pounds per week. This requires a caloric restriction of eating from 500 - 1000 cal under your caloric needs per day. So, for example if your BMR plus exercise is 2,700 cal per day, the lowest you should be eating is 1700 cal per day (1,000 cal restriction). Good luck!
You coached athletes and don't know basic concepts that are essentially common sense?! As wow
I honestly think this has to be a troll post. This is beyond basic.
I'm honestly flabbergasted that people took this seriously. And if this is serious, my bigger question is how someone like RoJo can wallow and seemingly revel in their idiocy. Rojo, have some shame, man.

as that is the whole point of the dubya lifestyle: lifelong unemployment, disdain for knowledge, sloth, laziness, wrath

It should be a troll post assuming normal intelligence. The comment about big success, dropping 2lb on day one is over the top. On the other hand he's demonstrated time and again that he's astonishingly stupid, so who knows... I'll go with a mixture of trolling and ignorance.
as I hate my diet as cauliflower race don't taste good as I am so hungry as my main nap couch is complaining about my weight as I have been on this very strict diet for a whole day as my wife's friend agrees with me that it be hard and ground turkey is a LOT and a TON awful as if I just spend more time dedicated to my naps as I will be asleep and not eating and as it is a LONG ways from the nap couch to the fridge and that walk be too much work

this is not what I saw at all as I have followed Rojo for quite some time and have been a Fitness Rep for some time. 2 lbs in 1 day is VERY normal and is the sign of someone whose body is BEGGING to lose a LOT of weight very quickly.

Co-flounder seems desperate to increase traffic by starting silly threads about common sense knowledge.
