I haven't been on there in a long time. I remember a few guys in their early 40s who were posting about still being virgins. All conventionally attractive and huge. Makes you think...
I think trackshark closed overnight too, back in the day. At least I don't remember a formal announcement. Dyestat announced they were ending a few weeks in advance. During the last month of dyestat, a lot of old posters came back out of the woodwork and there was a big sense of community amongst the posters. A few migrated to tracktalk.net, which acted like a replacement with about half the posters for 6 months to a year. I think several are still on letsrun. I imagine if the brojos decided to close the board, we'd see a replacement site spring up bc no one likes r/advancedrunning but it would take a lot to get the non-board news infrastrucure to letsrun standards, which is what drives new posters to the site mostly. But who knows - this site has never had the community feel of the dyestat boards, so maybe everyone would just go to reddit.
This was basically the bodybuilding version of Letsrun. Apparently hosting costs were too high, and so they had to shut it down.
It's sobering to realize this site will be next once the brojos move on. Enjoy it while you can folks.
Hi all , the Misc was my bible . Loved those guys . Just seen this post and thought I’d join this forum so I could chime in . I’m 63 and obviously old AF , but I felt at home on the Misc regardless . Those guys brought the lol’s , not to mention kept you updated on current events . It’s unfortunate BB.com shut the forum down . Srs I never thought it would happen . I pretty much lost my family
How were the mods on this Bodybuilding.com forum? Did they constantly nuke threads? Or did they actually let people discuss things unlike they do here?
bodybuilding dot com has been losing ground to gymshark for quite some time
BB was more for old school guys and gymshark type brands who catered more towards the gym-fluencer crowd won out
now gyms are more crowded which I guess is better for the economy - but filled with the gymfluncer/cross fit type crowd. I built my own home gym during the pandemic and won;t be back to watch the next inevitable crowd shift

Yes, though when it closes, there won’t be a hot girl and buff guys on the closedown notice page but a bunch of anemic looking pencil deek runners with 11” biceps.
Did they ever figure out how many days there are in a week?
Man, I lauged so hard at that thread. I still think about it some days. It is a pity it is gone now, would have loved to revisit it to get a good laugh again. Totally epic.
Actually really sad. Old school forums were such a better era of the internet than the algorithmic slop we have now, and BB.com was one of the best. I really do hope LRC never goes away, for all its faults.
I agree. The internet pre-monetization was a much more interesting place.
Really makes you wonder that if the under the table drug dealers at Bodybuilding can't afford to keep a forum online, how can honest people like the Brojos keep LRC going?

DyeStat sold to ESPN when they tried to create a national high school sports network. Also OG was the GOAT of message boards.
So many old results on that site that I would frequently look back at. It was great seeing a top regional runner on the rise and being able to look back at where they were 5-10 years earlier.
Between losing that site and the government lockdowns, my training motivation definitely took a dip at a time (mid-life) when I probably needed to start emphasizing better consistency.
