while some dont like the record simply bc taye is a foreigner, the real issue is that the birth documentation and certificates may not be completely accurate and he may not be a sanctioned freshmen. Personally the record should be open to all persons living in the united states, so long as they are of proper age.

Why do you question the veracity of the records? Have you seen them? Do you just do it because a lot of other ill-informed people have? It makes as much sense as an Ethiopian assuming that because you're American you're a fat lazy slob who runs slow and your kid will probably grow up to shoot his or her schoolmates and you'll one day shove your parents in an home instead of taking care of them in their old age.

Jippers Bronfman ran a 4:17 mile as a fifth grader. His record is comparitively so much better than any 9th grade record that they simply abolished the need for any class mile records at all.

injured runner makes a very good point; age verification. I have a buddy from Ethiopia and they just don't keep accurate records. THe calendar is different; right now its 1999 in Ethiopia! THat's when it gets unfair. Wilfred Kirochi won the world junior track in 1988 and he turned out to be 25.
that's right...in all cases..just like all Americans are like the people on Friends and Seinfeld...we see people like this a lot in movies, so they must be representative of all Americans...and we can conclude that everything that happens to the people on those shows happens to all Americans.without exception, because "they" just live like that...and furthermore, we can draw conclusions about any individual case someone might raise without even knowing any of the specific details of the case...

The government uses the western calendar. It's mostly the Ethiopian Orthodox which utilizes the old calendar.
