You seem to get tunnel vision. They ran a certain pace. It was slower than world record pace. You made a rookie mistake of saying they went out in world record pace because you heard that this was requested. It is very important to stick to the facts of what happened, and not what you imagined happened based on what you had heard.
He knew beforehand what had been requested. He went with the leaders, so he must have believed he could match them. But whatever the pace, it was way beyond his capacity. His ego impeded his judgment - as it does with him.
Ingebrigtsen didn’t invent going out too fast and blowing up. For him, this race is already in the rear mirror and he’s now going to prepare for another great track season.
i don’t know why you dislike him so much. Do the other runners hate him? He’s probably a pretty nice guy were you to meet him.

I don't hate him; my target is the bs that is the routine posts about him here.

You hate him. And you are totally affected by everything he does. Currently 100+ Ingebrigtsen posts from you PER DAY. Ingebrigtsen is your life.
Ingebrigtsen has had a not very well planed attempt at the HM and it didn't worked like he hoped for, I'm sure. He still got a new NR and he didn't quit, despite not being able to finish in a good time or on a good place. This seperates him from athletes like Coe, Walker, Bekele and many many more.
Your conclusion: his best event might be 50k walk.
In the last months your ridiculousnes-level has reached a new hight. Do you know why? Some connection to the Olympics?

I don't "hate' Ingebrigtsen; I merely think he is one of the most overrated athletes in the history of the sport. He is also one of those doing the overrating. What I do like to do though is challenge the sycophantic nonsense spouted by fans on this site. It certainly gets you all frothing.

Watching a 71 year old man humiliating himself every day doesn't get anyone frothing.

Why overrated? One of the two or three top distance runners up to age 23 in history. Two Olympic titles. Two world titles. 19 European titles. Three fantastic world records. Has lost several important races in the1500m. Not afraid to run against the best all season.
Why is he overrated? Where are people giving him credit which he didn't deserve?
Which nonsense spouted by fans are you talking about?
He ran with the leaders, who asked for a wr pace. Even if they dropped off it, it was way beyond Jakob "Walking Man" Ingebrigtsen, who was done after 10k.
Again they did not drop off world record pace. They were never on it.
While I agree that Armstronglivs seldom knows what he’s talking about, you could argue they were practically “on WR pace” at a point. They ran the 2nd 5k in 13:33 (57:11 pace); if they’d maintained 13:33 5k pace to the finish the time would have been within a second of the WR.

No you cannot argue they were on world record pace. You are lying or else you are just plain stupid. IF someone runs a mile in 65, 53, 64 and 60, for a total of 4:02, nobody in their right mind would say they were ever on world record pace just because if they had kept up the 2nd lap pace of 53 they would have gotten the record. They were never on world record pace.

Well substitute 52 for the 53 and the point stands as 53s would only get them 3:44, but 65, 52, 64 and 60. You cannot take the fastest portion of the race and say they are on world record pace, as this is not how it is done. 65 and 52 yields 1:57, slower than world record pace, just as 13:54 and 13:33 is 27:27, slower than world record pace.

It gets you in another way. No need to go into details.

No, I don't hate him. I just don't go along with the nonsense from his fans. I'm not going to repeat all that.

A few seconds off that pace. No - they were "never on wr pace". But slow as it was, it was way too fast even well before the halfway mark for the athlete who has previously claimed the HM is his "best" distance.
