What is the rationale that Sydney 'isn't qualified' for the DL final, yet all the distance races have pacers, none of whom qualified either? Why are we keeping the most dominant runner most of us will ever see out of this meet???

If a pacer won the race they wouldn't get the Diamond League trophy either. The meet host gets to include a runner of their country (in the 400mH this was Paulien Couckuyt for Belgium), but they're usually there for exposure rather than having a chance to win.

I'm glad Femke described it as an amazing season. She is beginning to sense the big picture. The Paris mixed relay was always going to be the most important race of her career. I framed it that way for years. Either spend the rest of your life with an Olympic gold medal, or without one.
