Diamond League Final Entries Posted

I'm not sure if someone else posted a thread about this year, but here're the entries for this weekend's Diamond League Final. What're folks' observations? Here're three of mine:1. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I'll state the obvious, in that I'm disappointed that Jakob's not competing in the 5000 on Friday, as I'd like to see how fast he can go when pushed. On the bright side, maybe we'll see a blazing 1500. 2. In the "invitational" races, I hope we see [i]insane[/i] times from Sydney, somehow, despite her competing against subpar competition. Funny enough, the start times for these "invitational" 400 and 200 races are within thirty minutes of the Diamond League 400 and 200 races, so viewers can, essentially, compare Sydney's performances against the top fields.3. Sedjati is apparently competing in the 800. Maybe he's not scared of getting popped anymore? Or maybe he's just accepted whatever fate he's destined for?

Her being there, but not running the main programme is the worst of all possible outcomes.

No matter the result of the 400m, Syd v Paulinho is the matchup that matters. Not having that is bad for both.

if say Adeleke manages to upset Paulinho, (not likely but possible) Syd will be the Asterisk on the result.

If Syd fails to PB it was because she is in the wrong race.

I understand the rule and why DL stood their ground, but this situation is a disaster for the DL, and its not much better for Syd or the other athletes either.

At very least they should have stacked the Syd race with Olympic semi finalists instead of a bunch of tomato cans

Only Vanoppen is listed as pacer right now. Stewy only had 2 points so it would have meant between him and Krop who is also entered, Ahmed, McGorty, Wildschutte, Mohamed Ismail, Mike Foppen, and Brian Fay all scratched which I guess seems possible. A lot of guys ahead of Krop like Mehary, Yihune, Almgrem, Kiplangat, etc. scratched too

Krop was talking like he was assured of his spot after the last race he ran. My takeaway is that he was getting placed in by whatever means necessary as a reward for propping up the non-DL 3000m races that he did. All the scratches I'm sure, but I think he was going to get the spot either way however many strings they needed to pull.

Not to be a jerk, but things are very much trending in the wrong direction. If Hoare is under 3:35 and McSweyn under 13:10, I'd consider those wins for them.

It looks misjudged in retrospect. World Junior titles have nice cachet, and the timing was much more favorable than his other realistic championship opportunities this year (World Indoors, Europeans). When he made the call, I assumed it was because he thought a PB was coming, and maybe he did.
