When a 400 specialist with an 800 PB of 2:05 outkicks four 800 specialists with an average PB of 1:58-high, I allow myself to be surprised. And she and German champion Hering were both in front of a their home crowd in an international field which is definitely being watched by current and potential sponsors which for them qualifies as a priority opportunity. I'm fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the race that breaks out Schmidt from social media influencer of a the last years to legit elite level in a new event. It will be interesting to see.
I'm aware that surprise is not a reaction allowed by mid-functioning autists on this board, but the facts speak for themselves. Sometimes the "race within the race" is where the diamonds in the rough might be found.
Indeed, you are the one behaving like an autist. The reason I am not surprised is because when I know the history of an athlete and their training I then know what to expect. You have been talking like the typical poster here who only looks at some numbers without any understanding of actual training and running. It is a lot different than the 5:15 mile you ran in your PE class.
You are also not looking at the seasons the other runners in that race have experienced this year (which includes training and injuries). Again you are just looking at some numbers ("a pack of 1:58-59 women".) Hint: why did Trevor Bassitt lose so badly to Emil Agyekum today?
Regarding the "international field which is definitely being watched by current and potential sponsors" you again show your ignorance. I have experience dealing with Diamond League meet Directors who had no idea what happened at ISTAF and didn't care to know, they are usually not looking at that meet they already have settled on who they want. Same goes for sponsors. Perhaps some potential Germany company sponsors may take an interest in ISTAF but all of those German athletes are already well known in Germany. You are pretending you actually know something about what is going on and how it works but you do not know. ISTAF sometimes serves as a "last chance" meet for athletes wanting to get into the remaining Diamond League meets with a big emphasis on "sometimes" (as in "rarely").
