What does Mondo have that Jakob doesn't?

Being covered in tattoos doesn't fit the clean-living, drug-free image of an athletics poster boy.

Who says Mondo is the bigger superstar anyway? They didn't actually name the track surface after him you know...

I'ts evidenced by the lopsided number of social media followers between them and the impact of the chants in the stadium. etc.

Mondo is a class act that doesn't talk s**t about his competitors. I suspect that if Mindo ever lost a competition, then he would sincerely congratulate the winning vaulter instead of sulking off to a presser and calling Sam Kendricks "the next guy". Watching vault, you can see that the athletes in the field genuinely like and respect one another.

Mondo’s peers clap for him when he’s attempting a world record and get just as excited as he does when he breaks it. When Jakob breaks a record, his peers just give him a perfunctory handshake.

Which is opposite of my wife and I, who both roleplay she's NOT getting one centimeter at a time.

Mondo is a family oriented person who maintains a good relationship with his father, who has coached him since he was a kid. After Mondo won his first Olympic gold medal in Tokyo and became rich and famous, he didn’t kick his father/coach to the curb like Jakob did.

I like them both, but I especially like Mondo because his name reminds me of Mongo from blazing saddles, and that he can do sweet front flips after he wins.

He has a personality that draws you into wanting him to succeed!!

mondo is straight up alpha. jakob has more WRs and tattoos and this and that, but he aint alpha

Mondo boat races his opposition in competition, in a field event where the spotlight is on one person every time they jump. Jakob faces more competition, figuratively and literally, while running races with several other competitors.

If Jakob was winning every single race he ran by several meters and winning golds in every WC/Olympics he ran, he'd probably get the attention Mondo gets.

Combination of a bunch of things. Biggest one is that pole vault is the most visually appealing event in the sport and distance running is boring to casuals. But beyond that:

-Mondo has no competition whatsoever, while Jakob keeps losing his primary event at championships

-Mondo is well liked by everyone on the circuit and speaks English with an American accent, and Jakob has a bunch of ugly tattoos and comes across as borderline autistic in the media

Mondo is insanely good at one niche event (which lacks competition).

If Jakob would have crushed the 1500 m, winning Olympic gold again and running WR etc he would be as famous n big superstar. Even more huge than Mondo.

But because he is human and looses from time to time he does not get the recoqnition he deserves.

Humility?

Jakob doesn't hold any WRs that regular IG folks would care about. If he breaks the mile record (not 1500m), then that'll be huge news resulting in more IG followers.
