You know our sport has no money and has to have meets at little places hidden away in the boonies and in old fashioned retro college towns started in the 1800s.
Runnerspace, USATF, TFRRS, Flotrack, NCAA T&F, Citius, Dyestat, etc. are very dedicated free, unpaid, volunteer fanbois.
What do you think letsrun.com costs? Over/under 5 figures? If running websites were worth something then brandon miles wouldn't have gotten into the adult film industry lol
Is that why they have money for those cameras that needlessly blur the background? They should have spent it on training them to ask informative interview questions.
There it is folks. You thought some people have principles and wouldn’t let the Nike machine buy them. Not so, as the Mike Smith debacle shows.
Disgusting to see. Brojos are next.
Nobody will "buy the brojos" and see themselves associated with racism, slanted political views, doping accusations, and whatever else gets posted on this site. I don't even know who advertises here, but my browser blocked 44 ads for me to make this post.
So the brojos won't get a corporate overlord, but whatever buying of them could occur is already done to whoever is willing to advertise on letsrun.
This kind of thing has a history though. John Dye sold dyestat to espn who didn't realize that the messageboard was the heart and soul of that site (even more than letsrun - prob 40% of the users came for the messageboard alone). Espn's management caused the site to quickly tank and they sold it off to runnerspace who I bet don't realize anywhere near the viewership as messageboard era dyestat got.

Debacle???
He gets to stay in Flagstaff and he’s more than likely getting a hefty salary increase. Everyone should want to make a better life for themselves. How is it a debacle? He’ll be fine & NAU will be fine.

Only way someone buys letsrun is if they visit this POS website, get a virus on their computer and think the only way to get it off is by paying a ransom to the Brojos
Nike bought out Citius a couple of years ago. Do you really think Phil Knight was interested in talked to Chavez?! It gives Citius access to athletes and a good space at Hayward, and ensures to Nike that they never really do any real journalism (no more articles on NOP or digging into Shelby). Everyone is happy.

I know, still waiting for someone to explain the 'debacle' part. Smith had peaked at NAU and wants a new challenge. not sure why that's so hard for people to understand. tons more money plus he gets to stay in Flagstaff. sounds like a win win for him and his family.
and this will help NAU in the long run. One of Oregon's biggest selling points to top high school runners with pro aspirations is being so close to Nike. now Flagstaff will be home to one of the best Nike pro groups in the country. a lot of runners who want to be on Smith's radar will jump at this. really gonna help their recruiting.

You all do realize Mike Smith probably saw the writing on the wall about mid-major DI's with football collapsing in the next few years right? It's common knowledge among college men's track/XC coaches that our sport is F'd in the A at that level of school (and probably for the rest of them too, but definitely at the small schools with football). Yes, even for a school with a dynasty of a XC program. He probably realized he could hang around a few more years while his administration budget cut his program dry until they were able to just cut men's track/XC to free up some pocket change for football and possibly leave him without a job in 5 years (maybe they keep the women's program afloat for him at half the pay). Or he could take the money and the stability that brings. Anyone that holds that against him probably is not a fully mature adult.
If Teasle gets $1 million for his screenplay, then the Brojos can get $300,000 for this website. Maybe they should be sold together. As is…maybe an auction. 17 dollars, going once…
