Sub par? His 21 year old - Nico ran under the Olympic record. Nikki was 7th and the others did OK. Woody had probably the most underwhelming results
Abdi fell and was one of 2 out of 7 that wasn't advanced?
Who is injured?
Elly Henes had lung surgery?
E Cranny just broke the 3k record under Cornfields coaching, I'd say NAU is in good hands.
People sound like they have something personal when they make these claims.
I know many of the NAU athletes and pros and they all seem to think he's pretty amazing. That counts more than some random anonymous poster on Let's Run
Belief and trust in your coach is a massive advantage for runners in a sport that is so mental.
Ely is leaving the group and Mile doesn’t coach Elise

looks like Elly Henes, Katelyn Tuohy, Sam Bush, and Hannah Steelman have formed a little group. I suspect they go back and forth between Raleigh and Flagstaff.
I can’t find the thread that talk about it because there are too many threads with Brosnan’s name in it. But there was someone saying at the Olympic Trials they saw Brosnan wearing all Adidas stuff and he’s always normally wearing Nike stuff. He was a Nike shill 100%. Maybe Brosnan will be with Adidas? Could there be an Adidas Group for once ?

Didn't say he coached elise- I clearly said "under Cornfields coaching" above. Just made it a point that not only is Smith a great coach but Corfield clearly is too.
it's part of Smith's deal that he can grandfather in former athletes who are under Adidas/Lulumon brands. that wouldn't be a part of his deal unless he already had permission from those companies to do so. so clearly they're fine with it.

That’s the Nike deal , but I’ll tell you Adidas is not fine with it. It’s bad for Nico and Adidas. Not a good way to start off a contract. They do have all year to work it out if any changes will be needed. I would not be surprised to see if something happens

I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal. aside from die hard fans (and there aren't many) does anyone who casually watches Olympics/world championships even know the details of a runners training partners and coaches? As long as Nico wins meets while wear the Adidas logo I don't think it's gonna effect sales if he occasionally runs with Abdi Nur in his Nike gear on Lake Mary Road at 6 in the morning.

I know you don’t. But it’s a marking problem. It’s not what Adidas signed on for. He’s basically running for Nike but obligated to wear Adidas

Mike will be getting paid to market Nike and win medal with his athletes. pros are a team but not like a college team. Not going to work to have an outcast of an Adidas athlete training with a Nike group. I would not be surprised if Nico decides to consider a different situation in the future

when I go for a run tomorrow I'll wear my Nike shoes and Adidas shorts just to prove to you two mortal enemies can co-exist in harmony. If only Israel and Palestine could see me.

Well you’re the biggest Mike Smith fanboy.
in the real world it’s terrible marketing deal for Adidas and they will have to figure out a solution this coming year before Smith starts his group with Nike.

Nur was ROLLED even before he fell, he was not going to advance to the final.
Grijalva ran like garbage and didn't make the final.
Rupp has been constantly injured under Smith.
HE INJURED HIS OWN WIFE RACHEL SCHNEIDER.
Kincaid had a horrible Olympics.
Hiltz was a World Championship finalist before joining Smith, now she is taking testosterone and only got 7th in a womens race.
Sahlman peaked in April which is really bad in an Olympic year.

Agreed. Nico actually lost the NCAA 5k outdoor too. Smith has a hard time getting athletes ready for when it counts. Lots of injured athletes and bad peaks

yes I watch a ton of track. I admitted Luis had a tough outing as well as Kincaid.
Abdi is a badass and I never count him out
Rachel is not injured. She won the USATF 8k champs in July & raced in August - besides running at the trials in June (but good job trying to make up one injury)
Hiltz is NOT taking testosterone - you clearly have an agenda as anyone who does watch track and isn't biased knows Hiltz doesn't. Rupp has been injured for years before Smith
And seriously- why bring Sahlman up? He's 20 and had a great year collegiately it takes a lot to maintain that far into a season and we can all clearly see he's not fully developed physically to handle that stress yet. Smith had the ONLY collegian in the womens 1500 final in Maggi Congdon
