Maybe the green light is actually 7:22.5 and blue light is 7:20.65? The splits listed is confusing.

Green lights are for the racers.
Then, as mentioned by a poster above, need 2:23 for the last km to get the WR. Sounds doable.
Yep, for anyone questioning whether he can make up a few seconds towards the end, in his 2 mile WR he needed a 60 second final 400 to get the record and ran 56.

2:27.5 - 2:27.5 - 2:25.5 doesn’t really qualify as a “monster negative split” IMO and is probably the best way to chase the record (assuming you’re not trying to obliterate it, which would be extra tough with today’s winds and risky with the stiff competition).

Your math is not pretty well - doing averages between numbers isn't even math, it's grade school "math". I don't care where you copypasted that from, you clearly weren't understanding the meaning of what you were posting.
Writing "that's not 7:28 pace but not WR pace either" is completely irrelevant: you didn't write/paste that the pace was "between WR and 7:28" in your post, you literally only said it was 7:28 pace, without even mentioning the WR.
Where as the Silesia Diamond League website lists:
SISK Pieter 1st PM - 1K 2:27.5 CIATTEI Vincent 2nd PM - 2K 4:55 - Target time 7:28
Three kilos @ 2:27.5 each = 7:22.5.
If anyone in the race can reach 2k in 4:55 then keep that pace on his own through the next 600 meters, a last-lap kick can get him close to the WR . . . or slightly better.
So, don't know why the website states 7:28 as the Target time. Maybe a data entry error.
Jakob mentioned after the race that he is going for the other world records now and wont focus on the 3000m for a while. Would be interesting to know if he is speaking about 5000m or 1500/mile. Jann Post seems to think he is going for the 5000m record.
