That depth exists due to systemic doping. Kenya shouldn't even be allowed to compete. 28:54, come on now get real. Athletics should follow swimming and only allow 2 per event per country. It keeps events more competitive between the countries.

Given that she is only 21 years old, running times no other American collegiate has ever run, shows great potential. Hopefully she signs up with a great team and gets some good altitude training in.
Agreed. I love that she’s not satisfied with finishing 11th in the Olympics. That’s exactly the kind of attitude our distance runners need to have. Looking forward to seeing how she progresses as a pro.

Baby is a student of always seeking better performance. She’s not going to learn anything by frequently racing Americans and gapping them. She’ll improve by racing fast international competitors and realizing it will be crowded on your way to the finish and the pace gets faster near the finish. Valby is not going to put distance on foreign competitors and she’ll have to learn what to do by racing them.

Parker will be 22 next month. We have likely seen the best of her as a runner. Maybe she can run 14:37 and 30:10. That is her ceiling. But she likely won’t reach it.
I think she'll reach it. Pretty great ceiling. But given Chebet's rise and the others in the low 29s, that is still a minute+ off the WR, like a guy running 27:10-20, which is great but not world beating.
