The most interesting thing about Tyreek is when Deno claimed the Chiefs were stupid to let him go and the Chiefs have won 2 Super Bowls in the 2 seasons he's been gone, including 1 of them over "his" 49ers.
It also however highlights how much slower NFL players are on the track vs. actual elite track sprinters. DK is among the fastest in the NFL.
Some of them have been world class or could be, but football focus and added mass takes away from their 100m speed. Gatlin Bair ran 10.15 as a junior last year which is world class for that age, but we’ll probably never see him run a race again as he’s a top WR prospect.

Sure, they'd be better at any sport if they focused on that instead of football, but then they wouldn't be NFL players and there'd be no comparison here to make, they'd just be another track runner. The interesting comparison here is if an NFL guy could step onto the track and run world-class times with NFL training/fitness.

Almost categorically the answer is yes, an NFL WR could have gone the track route and had similar success. TBH if you're a kid and you're the best sprinter in your HS it doesn't make sense to run track unless your times are nearly world leading. Learn to catch a football and you stand a reasonable chance of getting a contract >$1million, even as a backup. Run track and stay at host housing while running domestic meets while on PTO from your real job.
Same thing happened about 10 years ago. Someone in the NFL said they were faster than Usain Bolt. This happens every so often. To be fair, Tyreek Hill has 30 pounds on Noah Lyles.
