I take Endurox after hard workouts and before races and I can tell the difference. You could just eat any food for a 4:1 carb:protein ratio, but how hard is that?

Oh, I dunno, about as hard as eating a carton of yogurt or a bowl of cereal with milk (a decent cereal that is).
Besides, I recall reading that Chris Carmichael prefered 6:1. Let's not get stupid over this.
I am not debating if Endurox is better/worse than regular food, but it seems the convienence of having it with you right after a workout is a plus. I have always heard that you need something within 30 minutes of ending a workout, I know my workouts aren't always ending at my house so being able to bring along a water bottle after work works a lot better then carrying around food. Also, most people are thirsty after a workout so a water bottle of Endurox, Gatorade, or whatever kinda kills two birds with one stone.I see a lot of benefits to these drinks.

Is it really hard to eat a bannana after a race? A bagel? Ok, cover it with peanut butter to get some protein. Christ. Gatorade + bannana is all you need after a workout. I just don't get it.
Alan
endurox excel definetely works. I was on it for a month and had a HUGE pr in the 5k. just need to make sure your eating enough because part of what it does is that it increases fat metabolism up to 43%...it reduces muscle fatigue from the carbohydrate that shifts the buildup of lactic acid..you\\\'ll start to feel much better after 2 weeks...
Ok fun fact...why would any of the ingredients do what you say:
Ingredients:
Vitamin E: 60IU 200% Ciwujia extract (root): 1,200mg
Other ingredients: d-alpha tocopheryl succinate, Stearic Acid, Silica, Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Caramel Color, and Annatto Extract

Effect of ENDUROX on metabolic responses to submaximal exercise.

Claims that ENDUROX enhances performance by altering metabolic responses to exercise were tested. In a double-blind crossover design, 10 male subjects were randomly assigned to consume 400 mg of placebo or 800 mg ENDUROX for 7 days. Cycle ergometry was performed for 30 minutes at 25%, followed by 10 min at 65% of peak oxygen consumption. After a 1-week washout period, subjects performed the identical exercise protocol following 7 days of reciprocal supplemental conditions. Expired gases were collected and analyzed continuously for oxygen consumption, minute ventilation, and respiratory exchange ratio. Heart rate, blood pressure, rating of perceived exertion, blood lactate, and serum glycerol data were also collected at regular intervals. A two-way ANOVA with repeated measures revealed no significant main or interaction effects involving group differences (p > 0.05) between trials for any variable during rest, 25% or 65% (VO2 peak), or recovery. Our findings do not support the ergogenic claims for ENDUROX.
Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the reason you PR'd had something to do with oh I don't know...your training?
Alan
All of you need to know something here. Jim Fiore's real argument has nothing to do with nutrition.
The real reason: He's cheap
While most people find it easier to buy some Endurox mix it with water and go on with life, he has started a crusade to find alternatives, and save 15 cents per use.

This is entirely true. My cover is blown. The only reason I started running and posting on letsrun was to overthrow the evil cabal of sports drink purveyors (in spite of the fact they appeared some time after I picked up the sport). Not only am I cheap, but I am an evangelical cheapist. That is, I demand that others act as cheaply as I do and I will harangue any and all until they convert to my way of thinking. Time for some quasi-religious political slogans!!
"The worker-runners own the means of rehydration!"
"The proletariat-runner has nothing to lose but the chains of commercial sports drinks!"
"All hail banana and yogurt!"
I feel better now. Alan, pass me a bagel...
Can I and my chocolate milk crusade join your church?
oh ok....Runningart2004...Endurox Excel does NOTHING for you? BS...how about you try it out before claiming it does nothing. at least ive used it and noticed a change in my performance...it does the same thing as accelerate and endurox..but according to you, those probably have nothing to do with lactic acid buildup and protein intake...
fun fact
Again...READ THE INGREDIENTS!!!!!
I have tried it. Nothing more than blending a bannana with some gatorade and peanut butter. Again...TELL ME WHICH INGREDIENT DOES WHAT IT CLAIMS

Don't give me this crap about "well that's on Endurox, not Endurox Excel" BS, ingredients are basically the same. Just a clever way for Endurox to get you to buy their product. L-Glutamine and L-Arginine are what? Amino Acids. Where do you get Amino Acids? Protein. Correct? So...anything that has protein will have all the amino acids you need.
The only "studies" you'll find that support Endurox are not controlled and/or are done by Chinese scientists who of course don't have an agenda do they? (The main ingredient is a chinese root).
You want protein and carbs and other such nutrients? Eat better. It costs less. Do what the King did: Eat a bannana and peanut butter sandwhich..:)
You want to improve? Train better. Don't get caught up in the hype of some golden egg.
Alan
Dear Alan and Jim Fiore. We all admire you for your money saving ways, but here is something for you to ponder.
Maybe it's just easier for some people to take the Endurox. Some of us are doing OK and can afford paying 30 bucks a month for Endurox. You make it sound like we're taking loans out to by the stuff. How about we agree to disagree and let this tired thread die?
I never said you SHOULDN'T use Endurox. I understand the whole convenience thing. Heck, every now and then I buy a Powerbar and throw it in my gym bag just in case I forget my real food.
All I have ever claimed is that Endurox does nothing for your body that you can't get from real food and that if you are so inclined you can make your own homemade version for less money. That's it. If you want to drink the stuff morning, noon, and night, be my guest. Just don't buy into the marketing hype that you HAVE TO buy Endurox (or any other similar product) in order to be the best athlete that you can.
I used Endurox for a few weeks before, I got some cramps, although I recovered faster :D

Yes, I love to tote a "big ass bowl of oatmeal" down to the canals when I do my long runs. What world do you live in, the Grapenuts commercial world?
I have found that slim fast really works for me. Its cheap,(if you get the powder) has all the vitamins and minerals you need, has a 3-1 carb to protein ratio, and tastes good too. Why overcomplicate it?

LOL! Maybe that's where Art and Fiore live.
