Okay, then let's do a quick comparison to American track. Alicia Monson would've had a HUGE performance if she was healthy and medaled in Paris. Would've been by far her best race ever, and arguably slightly suspicious.
She has raced Battocletti three times and is 3-0 against her. She has twice run faster than Battocletti's 5000 PB, six times run faster than her 3000 PB, and twice run faster than her 10000 PB. She ran one road 5k and ran 7 seconds faster than Battocletti's PB.
Her 3k PB is 16 seconds faster, her 5k 12 seconds, and her 10k 48 seconds faster. She is by every objective measure the far superior athlete. And it would've taken a MONSTROUS race for her to medal tonight. Acting like it was anywhere close to expected for Battocletti is insanely disingenuous.
And this whole thing would make sense in a perfect world where athletes are consistent. Do you know Gudaf Tsegay? She's not american but I'd assume so. You'd then know she has a thing called the world record in the 5000. Well, she ran 17 seconds slower than the winner today. So I guess the winner is some kind of alien right? Because if Battocletti cannot make up 12 seconds on Monson... You get the idea.
Just, come on. People are inconsistent. Battocletti slightly bettered her NR. That's it, independently of how slow others ran in this specific race.
