Going into Birmingham 2022, Josh (5th) and Jake (1st) had a World final in their legs. Ollie had a 3:38 10th place semi-final bomb out in his.
If we’re going to speak openly, I would think back to the photo he made public on social media showing the amount of weight he dropped coming back from injury. I think he over did it and looked light all year on the Coffee Club videos. Too light = power issues at the end of races.

unfortunately a lot are bitter gamblers taking out their losses on the athletes. even worse for tennis players, especially overseas. read a story once about a lot of european tennis players shutting down their social media pages during big tournaments just from all the abuse and death threats.

Could also be people using social media to impact the performance of pro athletes that they haven’t bet on, to boost the chances of those they have bet on.
I don’t have social media, so don’t feel much sympathy; I’m just an angry Brit, after all. A handful of close family and friends follow my private Strava.
Everything is fun and games until you realize this is a real person. Doesn't matter that he uses social media. Everyone uses social media. These people are tremendous athletes, not robots.
Hate to see it. Hope he gets back on track. Honestly just looked like he (and the rest of his training partners) were just tired out there. Happens.

How do all of the athletes he gives unpleasant nicknames to on his CC videos feel about that? Is “Hole Cocker” not a real person?

Even announcing that he’s quitting social media is another way of him seeking attention
If a person pays money to see another perform, your an entertainer. If they aren't happy with performance you can boo. Suck it up Oliie you ran poor. Works both ways not when you do well only.
Sometimes it takes until someone says something like this until you are able to see their face correctly for the first time, even after looking at them for years.
He looks like a softer heart so-to-speak than I ever remember him looking. At least I always think these world class athletes are far more confident than normal people.

The bombast? When I first started listening to CoffeeClub, I was surprised by how chill they all seemed, but especially Oli. Oli always seemed like the least confident of the 3 despite being the fastest, which shocked me because as a 6'2, good looking and fast dude, I kinda just assumed he was a really self-confident kinda guy.
1) He did amazing to come back from injury - I think he rushed back due to point 2
2) Australia needs to change the qualification meet - honestly crazy to say it but do what Kenya did at pre and have the championship in another country closer to the event.
3) The Men's 1500m is insanely deep like the deepest event at the Olympics. So many guys in that 3:30 - 3:29 range, heck look at the USA finals. If you are off just by a second you could be done. I think losing in heats is not like it used to be in prior Olympics.
Really hope he’ll take a few weeks off, allow himself a period to be angry/sad/etc, surround himself with good people during that period, get some sun, then build back to the athlete that we all know he is. Supremely talented athlete.
Olive whoare was just another overhyped western athlete from the land down under who was supposed to challenge the East Africans but failed to live up to said hype and was unmasked as an average runner at best. He should've asked his compatriot jess 'medical' hull for 'advice' on how to run faster.

Social media is a great way for track athletes to boost their profile. They get paid to entertain. It's hard to stay relevant in the public eye running 5 races a year. It's a tool that gives them PR they can't get anywhere else.
If they don't want to deal with haters, just post and never look at the comments(or turn them off). Get a social media manager. But don't leave sponsorship money on the table because your feelings might get hurt.
Wait wasn't he the guy that said he and Kerr were better than all the competition in the US?!
This just seems like he doesn't mind Dishing out hate to American 1500 meter runners but gets offended when a nobody does it... Get some backbone or learn to ignore haters.

I can't believe people on here are openly advocating for people to get bullied and harassed. You think he deserves it? Because it comes with the territory?
How about, instead, we hold 'fans' to a higher standard? You should be supporting athletes even when they run poorly. In your own words, respect "works both ways", not just when an athlete does well only.
