we can all complain if we want but letsrun is a mf haven of independent journalism/news/comment/incoherent mess (choose one or several).

it is SO RARE to have anything maintain its independence with corporations intermediating so many areas of life, especially online.

letsrun is incredible and i'm happy to support it.

its not without its issues for eg gault terrified of nike shutting him out, so having to pretend to believe shelby. or rojo's awful incoherent politics.

but it's our mess.

letsrun is like a messy uncle at the family bbq who is drunk and divorced but not harming anyone but themselves and is full of golden takes.

Why would anyone ask him this?

I watched the full interview session yesterday. Grant referenced coaching, but he did not mention his new coach by name either, so I don’t think it’s a big deal. But it was clear that Fisher loves his move and current environment.

Grant is not a petty person. If he changed situations for more individualized coaching, more threshold, more frequency and less intensity, he does not need to mention his old coach. He has mentioned the reasons for leaving the old set up. He mentioned his former teammates because there is a human element to training groups and he just happened to beat a close friend and mentor coming to the finish line and be congratulated by another after medaling. He still runs with the group when he cans. If one of the reporters had followed up, thinking Grant had just diminished Jerry’s influence, I’m sure Grant would have been very gracious about what Jerry taught him. The foundation Grant built with BTC has made him. The structure and the callousing to intensity is the base for his success. He was just smart enough to walk away with enough time to shape the rest of his career in his way.

This is where you and I disagree. It's more like an uncle who occasionally has good takes and spends the rest of the evening trying to drag everyone else down to his level.

my comment is based on my experience reading the site and listening to the podcast for about 5 years. it's still my belief until i see evidence otherwise.

I had never heard of the situation with the individual you mentioned.

on covid - anyone believing the random ramblings of wejo and rojo has bigger problems than this site.

this site is not search-engine-optimised within an inch of its life to click click click more, including on divisive topics. it is not an infinite-scroll-yourself-to-oblivion site. those are truly evil.

rojo using his alternate accounts to make clickbait threads and post nonsense is easily a price worth paying for letsrun

I think Fisher likes actually racing to gain experience against his top competition and not afraid to lose a race or two prior.

At what point does Jerry, you know, update his beliefs about training? Never? Because we keep having star athletes leave BTC, and they basically all say that they want less of a cookie cutter program. Why can't Jerry offer that? Is it like a religious thing, or does he really really believe in the benefits of having everyone do the same training? Because the results are not exactly speaking for themselves...

Competitors don't race to gain experience. They race to win. Losing is the complimentary result. A necessary one.
