I remember him and that other guy running those indoor world records in 2019. I was ecstatic to see what they and Brazier would accomplish, smashing outdoor world records - *sigh*
he's top 20 all time across five events. maybe not smashing outdoor WRs, but he's been responsible for pushing the pace after the rabbits drop out in many a circuit race. agreed that he could be better at world champs and olympics
you sympathize only with loosers ... if he was a winner you would point your usual doping accusations/suspicions to him.
He belong to the streets. I mean to the roads. No sit and kick, just go to flat marathons and half marathons and win those. He is definitely made for fast races without kicks
Also I feel like they were pretty stupid here. All 3 ethopians were better kicker and they didn't have Jakob like guys. They all should have sit and kicked in the end.
Kejelcha helped make that race, you have to feel bad for him not getting a medal. I can't question his tactics as his 10K PR is 4 minutes faster than mine, so I can't say a word....but wow that was one hell of a race.
There's an undianable difference between his top times and his medal tally, but the guy has three global medals and is regularly racing against world record holders. Keyboard hyperbole

Kejelcha has only one outdoor global medal. And he has run 3:47.01i, 7:23, 12:38, 26:31 and 57:41. YK is one of the greatest time trialers we have ever seen.
He completely lost focus when it mattered most. He looked fresh as a daisy, but he let Chep get the jump on him with 1.25 laps to go, then let several guys pass him on the back straight, which caused him to be boxed in [ duh], and then woke up too late with his final kick.
I picked him for Gold in the contest. I was just hoping this would have been his time. I’m no seasoned track runner, but it seems like he made too many surges to have a real kick left at the end.
He gets some credit for pulling Cheptegei to an OR.
Ethiopians tactics are brainless. They let the race be a jogfest vs Jakob in the 5000 and when they have the best finishers, they waste their energy from early on.
Only thing Kejelcha has to do is to run like he always does in DL, push the pace from a few laps to go. We would medal with this strategy in most championships. Probably not the win but at least silver or bronze.

Of course you can pass comment on his tactics, just like you could pass comment on Steph Curry if he spent an entire game 7 pulling up from half court.
You don’t need to be of equal ability to critique, otherwise no one could coach a world class athlete.
